Thanks, I just might take you up on that offer. I know that I could watch the guy coming out to kill mine this July/August but I'm sure he won't want me hanging around. And if I learn before then, I could kill Buster our scared of the wind rooster who is FAT.We will find you a hands-on teacher yet sally! I just ordered my turkeys, and will order the meat birds next. When i set my butcher date, i can let you know, you are welcome to come. Hoping to have a whizbang plucker built by then too.
I have three game chickens from craigs list. They are at least 21 weeks old but they care not giant by any means, they are smaller than the RIR hens I would say they weigh about half as much as my RIR. you are more than welcome to them if you want them. From the size of them I would say 1 non crowing rooster and 2 non laying hens.Wow, thanks very much! I just read through the entire thread. I love the darker game bird meats, I had never really looked at quail before! I am adding this to our links, very nicely done tutorial.
Would love to see photos too.Okay...once you guys make one of these, please post photos and if you're happy w/how they work. I'll let you do all the experimenting and work out the bugs then maybe we'll make one!![]()
