My neighbor and I both have been getting hit hard by the hawks in the past month! I bought her and I both fake owls...which when I put mine out my entire flock took off yelling and ran into the woods to hide!! LOL It was too funny...but...We then had about 3 hawks all scoping out the property Saturday and I ended up with yet another hen missing! Even with the dog outside most of the day and me too...didn't even notice til the night come lock up time that she was not around! I was talking to DH about maybe we should look into the whole peacock thing to help us with our hawk problem. He said he thought they were really mean..? I haven't a clue...anyone have experience with them? Will I have issues if I were to bring an adult male into our flock?
Ok...so crazy but DH yelled for me cuz he counted and she's back! Now how weird is that! So...she went missing Sat...yesterday I only let 3 of the oldest girls out hoping she would come out of hiding if that's what she'd done and no girl all day! I ended up letting all of the others out this morning cuz they hate being cooped up...and poof there she was! Soaked...but all in all looks fine! I can't believe she survived 2 nights out alone and didn't come out to eat or drink at all yesterday! Just blew me away! I had to call my neighbor just to make sure it wasn't one of hers!!! (She had bought 2 BCMs from me when I got them...her Roo already got it by the hawk and is only left with 1 BCM hen)My neighbor and I both have been getting hit hard by the hawks in the past month!
