INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi Hoosiers! I just joined today-- have been researching for a few weeks but don't have any chicks yet. I would like to have my coop mostly/all built before I even get my chicks. Oh, I live in Woodburn, east of Fort Wayne. I'm planning on getting around 5 or 6 chicks- at least 1 Barred Rock and 1 EE. Still working on the other breeds. I keep changing my mind. There are so many breeds that I'd like to have. I love that there is a "local" board here! Nice to meet everyone and I look forward to talking with everyone. -Wende
Welcome! I live about 30mins south of Ft Wayne! Glad to see more chicken people up north! I have several chicks for sale of different breeds. Most are 4-5 weeks old and becoming easier to sex. Let me know if there is anything that interests you. I think my lists a few pages back, but feel free to send me a pm and I can send it to you if your interested.
We bought 3 new pigeons home from the show. I went to take a picture of one of my girls, and the flash scared her !!!!
Beautiful! I don't doubt that you got first with your silkie. All your birds are beautiful!
My new birds are out of quarantine. Here is some pics. 1 goose, 4 polish, 1 sebright, 1 silkie. Got another wall done today on new coop. Put window in as well. Hope you enjoyed my photos!!
All the new birds looks great. Orschelns has geese and trying my hardest to resist. If only I had a pond and better waterfowl shelter instead of using the chicken coop. Your coop looks amazing! What size is it and how many pallets have you used thus far? I'm thinking about using pallets to make my new breeding pens but will likely use the compost fiber board siding stuff for the outside.

Well today was the day, coop windows "screened in" (hardware cloth) and tinted. Finishing touches done.

They don't know what to make of it. They do not want to be out of the house and are very much being mamas birds. .................

Hey y'all these are my new babies. 13 RIR's, all hens. I am looking for some Silkies and Muscovy ducks if anyone knows where to find them locally. I am in the southeastern part of the state, about 10 minutes from the KY border.
Im in greenville and have silkie chicks that are 3 weeks old, most of them are black, maybe blue. Here are a few pictures of them.

Hi there! I am in Brownstown, IN. Don't know how far you are from me but I do have some Silkies for sale. Ages 1 week, 3.5 weeks, 4 months and some hatching tonight/tomorrow too (30 in the bator so fingers crossed but not "counting them" before they hatch

but I hear cheeping-woot!!). I have a couple of blue, dark blue/black (hard to tell at this point if they are true black or not yet), partridge, white and taupe/khaki. I have a few showgirls too. All are pet-little better than pet quality but not SQ. We are gradually improving our pet stock and breeding toward show standards but aren't fully there yet. You can PM me if I am not too far and you are interested. Here are some early pics of the 3.5 week olds:

Absolutely adorable!!!

She does have a big crest !!! LOL !! She is 4 months old and went to her first show yesterday, she got 1st. , Best variety, and Res. Best of Breed,

My silkie is looking more like a silkie everyday. Although she will never be a SQ bird... super cute all the same. I think all flocks should have a silkie in there somewhere.

I also forgot to add, does anyone in northern indiana have any silkies available? I can't find any anywhere near me. I don't really want 15 to 25 more chickens from a hatchery to have a couple of silkies.

Cluck - Those birds are looking good. The Sebrights are truley stunning coloured birds. I think all Polish look way to serious... Guess they have to balance a good stern look when they have a feathery hat they have pull off

The coop is looking good, window and everything... Very nice
