INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Finally caught up on the thread. I swear this thing grows faster than my chicks! Welcome to all of the new members! If anyone would like to be added to the member list just shoot me a PM and I'll get you taken care of! To the thanks for keeping the member list updated you are more than welcome. It really doesn't require that much time in my life. DH and I spent the weekend building our coop. We got rained out on Monday, which was unfortunate, but it did allow us to get some things done inside the house, though it also means that the ladies are in the house for another week! DH is a bit of a perfectionist and I have a tendency to overdo things a bit, so I guess this is what happens when we try to build a coop together. We're hoping to get the last side framed in tonight and start the roof and sheeting after that. Alfie, our English Bulldog, thinks we're building him a shade Pavilion. Sweet Belle checking out her new digs. First side framed in. Nesting boxes are below with 2 windows above. DH enjoying his victory for the day. 3 sides done. And of course, the ladies first day outside!
Wow very nice! I really need to get started on my breeder coops. Thanks for the ideas!

Lovely photos! Did you do some kind of effect? The backgrounds look like paintings. The foregrounds that feature living creatures are also spectacular. : - )

They are actually just copied from Instagram. Not sure if you're familiar with it, but it's a smartphone app for photos. I think I brightened each photo and used the Amaro filter.

THAT is going to look GREAT!! I don't think I've ever seen such a large elevated coop...can't wait to see how it turns out.

Can someone tell me how to pin my location on the googlemap?? I found the listed Hoosiers there, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to put myself on there???

Thanks! The whole thing kind of ran away with us.I really wanted a raised coop cause I love the look and the shade for the ladies, and somehow we ended up with this. We are thinking of going with a corrugated steel roof and then we have some old cedar fence boards for the siding. Now all we need is a name!

I believe that M2H already helped you out with getting added to the map?

I'm always happy to help motivate! It's been a ton of fun so far. We were hoping to get a bit more done this past weekend, but I feel pretty good about what we accomplished.

Hello you have seen the previous post about BYC members on Google Maps. Well I have made 1 for just us INDIANA BYC’ers.

You must first log on to your Google account or make a Google account. (If you have gmail, just use your gmail password)

All you have to do is go to this link....http://goo.gl/maps/UShV6 . Here are the directions. You will see the state of Indiana.. Note the county you are in when are making the ‘notes’. Zoom in to where you live and then click on the red button that says Edit. After you click Edit you will see a hand, blue pin point and a zig zag line on the map. Click the pin point and drag it to where you live on the map. After you have placed your pin point then click on it and you can edit your description by adding your county. If you want to change your blue pin point to another icon or upload your own then up on the right of that box click the pin point icon and choose others or upload your own icon. If anyone has problems with this feel free to ask.
Thanks for posting this again! I finally got on the desktop (first time in months!) rather than my ipad, and it made it pretty simple to do. I think the one thing that is missing in the directions is you have to be signed into your google/gmail account before able to add a pin on your location.

Welcome. Don't wait to read this thread too long, or you may find out you are catching up on 100+ posts!

And don't forget, at 6 weeks old some may still be headed for freezer camp. Or dumplings.

Any pictures of your SLW? We have 2, on roo. He's cool so far. I think he's read some of my posts about freezer camp.

Thank you! Been away for a couple of days and already behind!! I'm hoping for just pets and eggs, until they're too old or the neighbors complain

.

Here's a picture of our roo and one slw pullet, I can't get the other to pose for a good pic yet. :)

Hey guys, I know I am here again. But would anyone be interested in two baby roosters? They are about a month old ( maybe a little older) of my own breeding stock. One is full Rhode island red the other is a bantam Rhode red Cross. I am giving away their sisters to a neighbor and I already have three roosters so they can't stay. If not, I guess they will be dinner. I live in the bartholomew area. Figured it was a worth a shot!

- thank ya

Hi and welcome! I'M Em, also from Southern Indiana. I've almost lost track of all I have around here. Staying strong at 32 chickens, mainly because Husband has banned me from local feed stores! I also raise 3 dogs, 2 kids, a husband, a rabbit, and a cat.

Hey, Em! I'm just starting out, so we only have seven. Since one is a roo, I want to eventually breed him with one or two of the hens and get lots more. We'll see how many my boyfriend lets me have

. I also have a cat and a dwarf hamster. We have a big garden, otherwise I'd have more. :)

BTW: Does anyone mix their own feed? I've been wanting to feed my chicks organic feed, but can't find any around here. That means I'll either need to mix my own or buy online. Any suggestions?
