INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

That sure is the truth, eh? My son was playing with some goose eggs he found, and one opened. It was the worst smell ever, he got some on his hands, and I made him hold his hand out the window for the 25 minute drive and the car still smelled horifically during that drive. Imagine a 6 year old holding his hand as far away as possible! We tried wiping it on some grass but no luck.

It was bad, the majority of the ooze went on the deck so that night we avoided going out back. It was one of those joyous smells that just permeates the nostrils even after the offending material is gone.
Hope to never smell that ever again. On the positive side, I now know what to use if the neighbours annoy me.

Well my EE girl is still with me, shes eating, drinking and sleeping. Just not walking. I have to BA that have the ocular MD. Their eyes have changed. The pupil looks as though it is bleeding into the iris, kind of cool looking, but deadly. Both are still with the other girls, as they can still see and still hold their spot at the top of the pecking order. The EE girls is in the house, but today I will be removing the floor of my 8x3 brooder box and putting her in it and then putting them in the run with the other chickens. She is so lonely, but every chicken I put with her pecks her. So this way she can still be with them but not be hurt. Then at night she will come inside to bed down in the dog crate. Shes not walking so I put her between the food and water. As long as she has grass shes happy. Only time will tell, I am waiting for Purdue to call me back. If they don't contact me by Monday I will call them back.

Thanks for the happy thoughts, concerns and prayers. Yes it sucks, but only 3 birds seem to be affected atm. I am hoping that the rest are going to survive this, As it stands Just the EE will be going to Purdue, unless their is change in the others.

LOL about how to *fix* the neighbors!

The guys have been in the coop for a minute. They are still struggling to obtain dominance in there... Here is what I see most times I go outside.
They are continually huddle in one corner or another. The roo in the picture is fine with them, infact if it is just him out there they follow him. He actually sat huddled with them for some time yesterday.
Do you think I need to put them back in their own coop again? The fact none of them have been assertive has not helped and their reaction and every time another chicken heads towards them they huddle and poke their head through the fence.

I have had to go inside the run and put them inside the coop every evening. They are too scared to go in there by themselves.

Any suggestions, or do you think as long as there is plenty of food and water located throughout the run they will be ok?

I will tell you in the last place we lived the neighours had 6 dogs... 4 Dalmatians and two bassets hounds. They fenced in from their side door to the yard and inside the side door there was a chained in area inside for them. Doggie door on side door. Dogs has access to the outside 24 hours a day.

Let me tell you those breeds of dogs are not known for being super quite. Obviously living in the city.. every time the fire trucks, ambulance would drive down the main street all 6 dogs would be barking and howling.

Upon my frustration one evening with the dogs at 4am barking outside. I obtained some skunk oil from our trapper friend and sprayed it down the entire side of our fence and a friendly sprtiz on the car door handle and left a note. 'You should probably keep your dogs inside for a while, there has been a skunk on the loose'.
That last for a few days. They eventually let them back out again.

I was so glad when they left. Although they did move and left the dogs at the house. Had to call animal control on them.

Made me smile.

Apparently I can not shut up this morning...

... Look what I see...

I do not see the second chick.. A little worrying. Going to investigate.

Can not believe how tiny the chick is compared to the turkeys.
