INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So after reading this the brain runs on overtime and a dialogue started playing out......

Tom: Look Momma.. Don't take this the wrong way... But the kids look just like the Rooster in the next coop over.
Momma: Don't be so ridiculous.. I have not been with anyone else.. How can I, we are keep in the same pen.

Six months later on Maury Povich..

Maury: Tom.... You are NOT the father

Momma faints.

So this is how my brain works... Thought I would share :D
Besides the kids looking like the rooster, they look NOTHING like a turkey. lol
I like to think up dialogue for my flock, too. It's easy to tell what they're thinking. haha

Nice idea about the skunk oil! I am amazed when people leave their animals in the house when they move-- just unbelievable. Similar to the people who dump their exotic pets into the wild. They just want a quick fix for the "problem" although they are the real problem!

Let us know about the missing chick. Seems like one of those big turkeys could step on one.

I'm really south of indy hour south of Terra Haute
riverfishin~ Welcome to the Indiana Thread! What kinds of chickens do you have?

hogster/Deb ~ That's hopeful news that the others aren't ill. Keep up posted. We're all thinking of you-- in fact, I was in bed last night thinking (instead of sleeping, as I usually do) about what a terrible experience you are going through.

guys, please keep jsummers in your thoughts & prayers, her family is really having a bad week. Sending

out to her and the family.
Will pray for them.

Quote: You two sound like you have been to a few shows. I have never been to a poultry show. What should I know before I show up with a car full of children and my husband. Are strollers a good idea or just another thing to get stuck in the mud? What is the average fee to look at the birds, not enter any birds. Are there vending stands that will entice my children and husband with fair style food? Are coolers allowed if they remain in the car?
I lost my cat

she escaped out the back door and now idk where she's at
I hope she comes back. Is it possible that she is looking for a Tom cat?
Quote: Funny story. My brother got his hands on a box of stink bombs. Then somehow managed to set them off all around the school at about the same time. The school sent everyone home early the smell was so bad. Well later I was reading the box, it said the bombs once broken, smelled like rotten eggs.
I now take extra care with any dud eggs I might have in the incubator.
Apparently I can not shut up this morning...

... Look what I see...

I do not see the second chick.. A little worrying. Going to investigate.

Can not believe how tiny the chick is compared to the turkeys.
lovely. I hope you find the other one.

Ok, just got home from a baby shower and Annabeth is missing. Everyone was free ranging but she is just gone. I can't find any feathers, all the other chickens are fine. What could have happened? Do chickens ever get lost?

Ok guys I really need some help. I trued posting this in the correct thread but have got 0 replies. I have done tons of reading but am having no luck finding answers. My poults are dying and idk why. Thursday evening I noticed poo that I thought looked odd so after an hour of looking at poo pictures decided it was normal. The next day I had a dead 1 :( none had acted ill they were all eatinf and drinking just fine ect. I took the remaining chicks to their day pen not an hour later another died. More research still clueless but decided to add electrolytes to their water and a tiny bit of DE to their food thinking if its a parasite that would take care of it. Today they are all very active but 1. But he's eating good drinking just fine and not excessively. But their poo has changed drastically when I cleaned the brooder this morning and took them to the day pen there was solid white poo puddles didn't really look wormy though. And the other poos looked like the pile I was originally concerned about. I wish I would have taken pics! I gave more electrolytes today. But I'm kina at a loss as to what to do bc nothing I reqd or seen looks or sounds like what I'm facing. This is the first time I've lost any birds to illness or disease and I don't want to loose more.does anyone have any ideas what this could be based on my horrible description?

Hawks or owls don't always leave feathers. I would not vote for lost so much as either gone or hiding on the beginnings of a nest of chicks.

How old are they and do you have any pictures?
Is it possible they ate a plant that was bad for chickens? Also do you have lots of flies or gnats. Too many bites from these are deadly for chickens.
Vanilla smells can make the bugs go away.

Will pray for them.

When I went last year it wasn't muddy and I didnt see any signs that didnt said strollers werent allowed. But it was pretty cold last year.I almost never get cold, and I am not exagerating at all I love winter, and I got chilling but I was also outside quite a bit. I got pizza at a gas station last year so I dont even know if they had food, but last year they didnt have a funnel cake stand or anything so I dont think you will have to worry about your kids saying"{mommy can I have a funnel cake pleeeaaassee}, so you should be good there lol. But they do have people selling chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons, and I even saw some rabbits so you might leave with a car full of new family members lol. There wasnt an admissionn fee or aything last year. but they did charge i think $3 per bird to enter in the show. And even if you arent going to show you can still sell birds there but i think there is a $25 fee to be able to sell there. And you can have coolers in your car.

Sound like a hawk, most the time they dont leave feathers behind. Polish chickens get lost very easily because they have a hard time seeing with their afros. I got some in mid winter. They got out of the coop at night and couldnt find their way back in aparantley all 3 I found dead burried in the snow. After they got lost I think they just tried to stay warm and didnt make it.

I'm betting a hawk must have taken her. They aren't old enough to lay yet. Must have happened quick since my husband was outside with them most of the day. I kept saying if anyone was going to get eaten it would be her. She was always wondering farther than the others. What a crummy day.
