well one hatched and two maybe three are working on it... Im worried though. I lifted her to see what's going on and she kicked the other eggs a bit. I hope I didn't mess anything up!

How cute! And everything should be okay. Just try not to mess with her, so that she dosent kick they eggs and such. Just check up on her every now and then and make sure everything is okay. :) Hope she hatched more!

I use pesticides with abandon and usually have no fear of them.

That said, Frontline is a systemic insecticide. That means that it makes the animal, dog, cat, or bird, toxic to the bugs.

I would not be comfortable putting this stuff on laying hens. Eggs toxic to bugs would cause me some (minor} concern.

Frontline has caused my dog no harm that I can see, so I wouldn't be real, real concerned about it, but I'm not sure I would want it in my eggs. On the other hand, if there was a heavy infestation that couldn't be cured any other way, I wouldn't throw away the eggs.

Wouldn't sell them, though.

John

Good point! I don't chase down my egg producers to apply Frontline, just my breeding and show stock, so never thought about the egg aspect.

Do you have a rooster in there with them?

A few of my girls have spots just above their tails. I know they are the favourties with the rooster and he can be a little rough, especially if one is flavor of the week.
No, not any roosters. Except for the one that lays double yolkers.

Wanted to share a few pics of the new coop! We still have some painting to do and a few other things to finish (some additional ventilation, hardware cloth over the windows) but it looks pretty great for 24 hours of work this weekend! It is 15 x 3.5 on the inside and the run is 16 x 12. I feel much better giving the ladies a bit more space! We also found someone down the road selling young hens (just started laying) so we got four more. That brings the flock up to 3 Barred Rocks, 1 Ameracano, 2 Wells Summers, 2 RIR. I apologize if I butchered the spelling on any of those breeds!

Wow, nice job!!! It would take me that long to think about building something like that.
Advertising? What the heck? People post birds with prices on here, but I can't say they can have him if they want him?

I wondered about that. First time I have seen anything removed. You've been a bad, bad girl.

jk.

I have no words right now. My dog took a turn for the worst over the past 24 hours. We made an appointment for her in 2 hours. She probably will not come home. My companion of 11 years. My heart is broken.

Oh, wow Pipd, you have had a really bad week. So sorry.

That's a really cool picture.

Congrats.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas/sources.

I want to buy a window exhaust fan to put in a small window in my hen house.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Would love to find one for barns so that it can take the extra dust. Solar would be great but not mandatory.

I can't seem to find anything barn quality.
