-Keep on reading and as you find more things you want to comment on, click the "multi" button on each successive thing you want to comment on.

All of the things you wanted to comment on will now be in the reply window and you can go through and make comments on each one.
Leahs Mom~ For some reason, maybe it's from using a Mac (or maybe it's my own incompetency), but when I've tried that before, all that shows up is this:

What works best for me is to open two windows of the Indiana Thread. I use one window to read posts and use the second one to quote/comment. The reason I do it this way is because when I've just had one window open and have posted a reply, when I switched pages my reply was erased, which is very frustrating. I've also found that it works best for me to read through posts, and then go back and start over again to post. Since the thread moves so fast, oftentimes there is more input about the original post. This explanation is probably as clear as mud.

Pipd, I'm glad Margaret was accepted by the gang. My bantam Bonbon would be fine with the Big Hens since she has no fear, but poor Adeline is so afraid, so I'm still having the two orps stay on one side of the coop at night although I've opened the partition a little. DH says that in the morning Bonbon is walking around with the Big Hens while Adeline hides behind the partition. You never know what to expect with crazy chickens!
EmSteele~ You're probably stressing your hens by pacing back and forth by their nesting boxes. haha The day you don't look is the day they will lay.

Does anyone know if there is a swap meet in Silver Lake this weekend? Seems like I read that somewhere but now I cant find it.

When leaving for work today I walk outside to get in my car. All of a sudden heard a squawk and see the chickens running like crazy. Next I see a hawk swoop down about 15 ft away from me! It lands in a bush and I run at it yelling. It flys to the other end of yhe property. I turn around and another swoops down and flys over to the other hawk! Needless to say the chickens are locked up today.

oh gees, that would have freaked me out too!

Yes! A fall get-together. A Sunday would be preferred for us.
It is pre-scheduled.

For more information, please contact Doug Akers

I plan to make the journey. The 3 1/2 mile trip will be grueling, but with my pioneer spirit, I think I will make it.

I contacted Doug Akers to see if it is possible to set up a meeting place for us Indiana BYC folks.

I just wanted to say -- rural king in Columbus had baby chicks today. Baby chicks?! In September?? I felt like they were personally messing with my emotions. Lol seriously they had isa brown and Cornish cross only. I can't figure it out.
I get why they would have CX, Nov weather is ideal for processing. But surprised they had the ISAs.
Anyone want to help me decide which two pictures to enter for the BYC calendar? (I'm pretty sure the first one is going to be one of my entries.

ATTN: We have decided to update the members list to note if a member also breeds (or plans to breed) their birds. We are still discussing if it will be an added column or color coded (everyone is yellow right now, but say if you breed your rows will be say blue instead). We figured this would be a quick and easy way to find a local breeder for a breeder a member maybe interested in. Im always very open to opinions and ideas on how we can make it better.

So if you currently breed or plan to breed any of the birds in your flock, please send me a pm. Once we figure out how we are going to note who is breeding what, we will update the members list.

To any member not currently on the list and would like to be, please send me a pm with username, county, city (if you want), species, breed, variety, and LF or bantam. I will update the information asap. If you are on the list but have outdated info, also send me a pm with the changes. Id rather be flooded with pm's to update info than have a members list is inaccurate info.

Here is a link to the current members list for quick reference:

In the "Breed" column, behind the breed name, put the smiley chick hatching.

Ex. Easter Egger

That means a breeder of Easter Eggers.

im about ready to give up trying to hatch shipped legbar eggs! its getting very frustrating with these horrible hatch rates. i set 9 eggs, 6 made it to lock down, none have hatched! and were due to hatch yesterday. i had quail eggs in with them in lockdown. i get more than a 90% hatch rate with them (from my own flock) but never higher than 20% hatch rate with CCL. I have another batch of CCL eggs from a guy ive bought from 3 other times and had good hatch rates. lets hope his CCL do just as good as the other breeds ive gotten from him!
I usually get minimum 60% and better than 90% from him.
