For some reason, the post you had about working around our significant other's did not copy over here...so I'll just tell you. My DH said he wants a new toy that is fairly expensive and sounds very time consuming. I'm waiting until after said purchase to bring up chicks again. Its all in the timing...I just had to tell him how much the necropsy was, so waiting is good but I might explode in the meantime.animal lover ~ Yay! It's sunny here today, so I'm pretending it's spring.![]()

Seriously about to hang it up. I have silkies with lice, a pullet with respiratory issues that needs tylan by mouth, her eyes unsealed every morning, and the rest of the flock is on antibiotics due to exposure to her. I went out to get the only loose sand on the property to give the flocks to bathe in, and it took 3 times as long as it should because all of our gates are frozen shut. I was cleaning of a hens butt this morning because it was caked with poo, only to realize the barn chickens have lice also. Then poor minmin gets her eggs from me today and six of them are broken. All were individually bubble wrapped, in a styro carton with bubble wrap over all of them, the carton then wrapped twice with bubble wrap, layed in a bigger box stuffed tightly with newspaper all around the carton, then taped shut. I put up arrows on the box and live embryos written on the side. How they broke I have no idea, but I feel terrible. Its just one thing after another. Okay rant over.
I'm really sorry that you are having such a rough day. I was feeling like that too about two weeks ago. With DH out of town, sick chickens in different locations, frozen gates that do and don't want to latch, sub zero weather, snow delays and cancellations for school, kids coming into my room at all hours of the night to sleep with me, and consequently little sleep, I almost had a melt-down...or maybe I did have one...or two...
I hope tomorrow will be significantly better for you.

hello all from Whitley Co. How do we add the state to our pic? A little about me, my wife and I have golden comet layers right now and we are hopefully going to grow to around 30 this spring. Just bought a hova bator genius and I got three different hatchings ordered, barred rocks and rhode island reds for the first batch and then just ordered a dozen silver laced wyandotte's for april. glad to have found this thread...
Welcome!
I really like your plans. I'm not an expert either. I did find some plans on Pintrest last year that I really liked. If you search on cattle panel arch, you might find several versions of ways to trellis veggies or other plants inexpensively that will also create a shade space in case you want to plant some lettuces. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/261560690830889249/ . This pic has the vines already going crazy and its just beautiful http://www.pinterest.com/pin/220817187952938808/. Also, I found several options for growning strawberries off the ground so that you don't have to worry about the bunnies as much. One of them was a planter box type thing that could be mounted to the side of your chicken coop and it would become a decorative feature as well. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/12736811418438262/ Here is one that is vertical http://www.pinterest.com/pin/209276713908298152/. I got a little carried away there because I also found some that were made out of pvc pipes and mounted to the fence...in my mind that just means it needs to be on the coop or run.
I'd better stop now. I can spend as much time there as I can here...which means I will be all ideas and no garden!!!
