INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I can see that being an issue in small lot areas or apartments.  Sick barn cats get put down here.  For two reasons, first I can rescue a healthy cat and put the sick cat down for less than treating the sick cat, second sickness spreads way too fast.  Now an injured cat that just needs a week of rest, that we can do but nothing too pricey.

I knew there was a good genetics person on here.  I have a sex link question.  Can my RIR rooster mate a Bresse hen and the chicks be sex-linked?

No

Ok so an update on my babies.

I moved everyone around and Cleaned my entire garage. I've been changing their jars with new ones instead of refilling them and cleaning the red bases 3 or 4 times a day. The weak one is getting poly vi sol 4 drops a day. Their water has vitamins, electrolytes, probiotics and raw acv.

Everyone else is hale and healthy but the weak one hasn't changed much. Still droopy wings, no new feathers and it's sleeping a lot. It does eat and drink. I also noticed it had one very strange poop. Dark and round and hard. And Shiney. Any new ideas? I inspected closely and no mites, but they sound easy to miss. Here's photos of him.

You will get a sex link if you breed a blrw roo to a slw hen. All the pullets will be blr and the cockerels will be blue yellow

I have 4 Marans eggs left to hatch that I took from my broodys and 1 has externally pipped. .then I'm done!

I've been working on hatching what seems like since June of 2013 Lol...of course on and off but geez! I have to say though that I did dry incubation this last time with weighing and that's the ticket. I was surprised that some still struggled to lose enough weight! Really blew my mind!

Glad your hatch went better!! Care to share your dry incubation technique? I've only had 2 hatches but both were pretty poor considering the number of eggs that developed.

Since it's to wet to work on our landscaping this weekend I'm hoping I can talk DH into helping me put together my hoop coop! The babies in there need to get outside. Then I have more room for babies in the big coop! ;)

Nothing really special. I just had the small med measuring cups in case I needed to add water and I didn't put a drop in until lockdown and weighed the eggs at days 5,10 and lockdown just to be sure I didn't need to add water and I didn't. My humidity ran on the digital and incubator at about 27% and I had some that still could have lost more. . Before when I weighed the batch before this one I started with adding water to have the40% humidity and at day 7 took the water out because they hadn't lost enough and just couldn't make up the difference to get them to lose the weight they needed to. So I think starting with none and weighing at day 7 to gauge where to go from there. Again my Marans and the others I got from other breeders don't lose weight as the other breeds but they say it's best to lose a little to much than not enough.

I just have the Farm innovators circulated air Styrofoam incubator from RK.

I was woken up this morning at 5 am to thinking I heard something off..George our newest mom has her babies in our master bathroom vanity area. But I swore the sound was muffled! I got up and tracked down Bella our other pregnant cat who had given birth under our bed! She had 5 and after I moved them into their own box George decided she was going to take care of Bella and her babies. She obsessively was cleaning every one including Bella. My DH called her Super Mom! Hahaha!
