Didn't want to make my other post take up the whole page so we will call this one " Part Two " lol


Got a few questions: 1 this is Honey aka Marion My departed Seabrights mate. She has started acting funny, I thought maybe it was a respiratory problem so I began treat her with something that started with a t that I got from my vet, it is mixed with water. But not doing the trick. She makes a noise like a loud chirp, ( maybe a sneeze ) I have a video ( I hope it will load never tried this before )
ok says file not supported?????? To me she acts like she can't breath.
She eats, drinks and free ranges about 4 hours a day, The bigger birds pick on her.

2: We have a hen that broke both legs (Not at the same time) and I have been trying to nurse her back to good health, it has been 2 mths from the last break. and the best she can do it stand on he knees ( or elbows ). She gets around, eats, drinks and free ranges with Honey. Other then her legs she is fine. Had a visitor that got all over me for not " putting her out of her Misery " I don't think she is in misery. What do you guys think? Should I cull her or let her be? here are some pics

3: These are my TSC Silkies that I picked up in my quest to get my boys some hens of their own. Are the full Silkies and are they pullets or cockerels?
they are 1 weeks old last Friday.

ETA: Breed isn't really that important unless you intend to keep purebred, papered and registered stock. My guys are not papered, and I don't ask a lot for the kids. I would be very proud to own registered goats! I have also learned a mixed breed goat is usually hardy, just like any other animal. I guess its just what an individual plans for their own herd. We are just looking at our own "herd" for personal use.. Milk and pets.
I kid in the fall also, so I don't have the fear of a chilled kid as much. I still prepare for a lamp, but August has went very well for us for kidding. Sugar may be late, I dont think the first breeding took, but suspect she is pregnant now

I did a 2nd breeding Late in april to be sure. Still waiting on Ms Sophie my basketball goat LOL! Milk is fully in. she is still playing with Sugar, and being a normal goat.

Yes these are nubian but the one or pair I get from you, of course won't be. I was going to see if you were willing to offer stud service for a fee of course.
I've been thinking with all of the posts about auctions that maybe I could buy an older nubian buck and breed him for one season before making goat tacos. We have a processing place not too far from us that will process goats. And for ground meat old age is not too much of a factor. The hard part would be finding a good buck. These nubians are from show stock so as long as I maintain that I think I could get more money for the kids. I know they cost me more. But there is a lot of paperwork I need to look at too. I need to join a group but not till Sept 2nd because the dues pays for calendar year membership and paying Sept 2nd pays for just over a year but paying today pays for less than half a year. Once I get in the group i hope tp get more information about breeders offering stud service. There is a bio risk so not everyone offers it.

You guys, I really was interested in coatimundi too. If things were not so crazy I would still think about it. Fascinating! DH would kill me, but he is crazy over sugar gliders.. so I bet he wouldn't mind a whole lot LOL.

ok... Nope I don't think it was Dinky's I went to... I never seen any of this. But I would like to. 

I have less then recommended also but I have plenty of perching for 40 hens and 3 Rooster all LF. Mine works cause they only sleep in my coop, I have a extra Lg  run with all the free ranging they want ( but on bad days in winter ) I have 6 nesting boxes, (used to have 10 but they didn't use them so I took them out for added space. ) in the winter I have a snow fee space that allows them to get out and move around and I dump the horse and goat stall clean outs in the run to give them something to scratch around in and it keeps them busy.  I have had no fighting or such due to overcrowding. But like I said they only sleep and lay eggs in our coop.  As far as coop bedding and run floor... coop: is wood shavings ( pine ) and a sm amount of sand, and in the winter I will lay out in the floor 2 flakes of Alfalfa hay so they can pick through.
 The Run: is the dirt grass ( whats left ) and all the barn  clean outs I have put in over the past year ( learned to do that here ) and in the winter if the snow is bad ( like last year ) after I shovel the a walking path from 1 end of the run to the other I will scatter more hay in the path. once againg gets them out and walking around and doing something other then think about who is standing too close to them... lol
 Sorry this ended up a little longer then I had planed.  O and all the kitchen scraps I get.

I was just getting up at that time. Thunder terrifies my Dog!!! and we had a great light show to go with it.

I don't have to be there for judging and I go back and forth every day, so try and only go the necessary days. Depending on how well I do I might also be at the fair the 9th, since it is the celebration of champions. Then the open show is the 10th or 11th through the 13th. I will be there the 10th or the 11th and the 13th for sure.

Are you sure there were broken legs? What things/signs tell you that the leg(s) were broken? When you first thought the leg was broken, what happened or what did you observe?

Are you sure there were broken legs? What things/signs tell you that the leg(s) were broken? When you first thought the leg was broken, what happened or what did you observe?

She I think was pushed or fell off the perch, I didn't see the actual event but seen her falling to floor of the coop. she got up and would not put any weight on it, I picked her up and moved the leg and could feel the popping in the joint. Then 2 weeks latter she was just on the ground and struggling to get up and a rooster topped her and she threw a fit. I picked her up and she had the same pooping in the other leg. They were both in the joint. So I couldn't set and wrap them tried it didn't work.

Guess I am not the only one with fly issues this year! The chicks were little last year at this time, they weren't outside until fall so I thought the mass amount of flies was normal. We've put out fly paper and fly traps that just use sugar water to attract the flies and trap them into a glass jar-can't really use pesticides b/c of the honeybees and our yard is all organic. Those glass jars were filled within 3 weeks. So gross!

How do u do the jar? I would like to reduce our flies in a safe way. Can u post a pic? Sorry this is late just got home from Chicago and catching up before leaving to take my last 3 boys to camp. It's been a busy summer!

For niacin and riboflavin, you can feed raw liver chopped tiny enough for her to eat. Also Brewers yeast is a natural source but has a high phosphorus to calcium balance.
