INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

There was talk awhile back about card readers you attach to cell phones/tablets to be able to accept credit cards for payment. We just got another side stack of PAYanywhere brand card readers. They are $10 but you also get a $10 credit on first time use. Plus your first $2000 in sales are free. Otherwise its 2.69% per swipe and like 3.69% + $0.19 per manually typed card transactions. Also mobey is supposedly available in your bank account next day.

Anyone use this brand? It seems you can get them free off their website but doesnt have the first $2000 transactions free deal that I can find. Im thinking of getting this or the paypal one. I already have a paypal accoubt and know they are safe and reliable. Their fees are comparable but you get a debit card with their reader. Im not too keen on having another card but I guess it would allow me access to the money immediatelyas well as 1% cash back on all signed purchases. If money is withdrawnm atm paypal charges $1.50.

Thoughts? Opinions? Recommendations? I honestly wouldnt use it that often but can see the benedits of having one especially if I start selling at swaps.

And it would take a while for you to pass that $2,000 free threshold, so you wouldn't have any expense for quite a while. I have heard really good things about the square reader and hadn't heard about the Lowes option.

Have you settled in on which double milker you are going to get.  I saw some homemade ones on Ebay that look like they might work.  The most goats I'll have in milk next year will be three.  My DH so far is refusing to hand milk and I like the clean aspect of no flies in the milk bucket.    But the one from the farm selling on ebay takes about 15 minutes to milk a first time doe.  And it costs almost $100 with shipping and a second vacuum pump.

Or this one that plugs in, but we don't have electric in the goat area.

Editing to ask which dewormer you use for you goats if any.

We were using Safeguard from TSC, found out through our vet it is almost worthless anymore. Been on the market and used to much!! So he sold us some newer stuff. I'll have to get the name for you. And we will be purchasing a compresser type milker. With around 7/8 does even the hand pump is to much of a pain. I'll get the info on our new de wormer for you this eve!!

That's great! My nephew lives with me and when he first came he seen a deer in the field and yelled look at that moose:) guess ya had to be there to appreciate his city outlook on wildlife. He still can't get over all the frogs, and bugs.

That is too funny! All the kids thought she was owl and all the adults thought she was hawk. Lol "why yes I am holding a Wild hawk here without a glove or anything". Just joking. Sooo many people took her picture and she was so calm. Probably stunned from the flashes

Most over the counter wormers, flea/tick medication is! Some of it can even be poisonous. I know the Hartz brand flea medicine was an issue with cats when I was in practice. No idea if it still is or not.

Thanks. And yes i went to round up and it was one of the most amazing experiences i've had so far. I went with my best friend. What is your son's name? I know there were like 600 people there but there is still a chance i met him. I don't think i met your daughter though. :)
His name is Benji. His roommate's name was Michael (also from Elkhart co.) He took a class on making biodiesel fuel and one with some kind of robot...

Benji's very interested in blacksmithing and wants to be an apprentice. He talked a bit with one of the blacksmiths at Pioneer Village at the state fair. Anyone know of a practicing blacksmith areound Elkhart County? We did find someone in Middlebury. Benji contacted him last night & we'll try to get a visit made in the next week or two.

Thanks.

I wish we lived closer to you.  I would be buying some of your goat's milk.  The gallon I got from Columbus area was wonderful but I don't want to drive all that way for 2 gallons every week.  I'm not sure why there isn't any locally.  Maybe it is more of a meat goat area where I live.

I can tell ya our milk makes the best ice cream I've ever had lol!! True story
