INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Here's my sunflowers. They make great shade now that they're tall but not until a little later in the afternoon. I planted them all along two sides of the run but these three were the only that survived a torrential amount if rain about a week after planting.

Here's some of my flock. I cleaned out the freezer the other day so they've been enjoying snacks for the past few days!

Ugh that's awful! I guess if maintenance doesn't have to smell it it's low on the priority list.
Glad your babies made it through the night. How long do hens usually mother chicks? I have my first momma hen right now

Awsome! I'm really hoping I can make it to Lebanon this year, it'll depend on if baby decides to come early or not though.

No kidding! Not high on their priority list evidently! They just showed up, 27 hours after I put in a request. This humidity has made the decomp worse I am sure! He said they were putting more down and I asked if they ever checked them or if they waited for the smell. He said they got checked once a month!!!!! Seriously!?!?!?!??! This has not been a good week at work!

As far as the worlds worst mom, everyone else seems to post that their broodies won't cut the cord and are still mothering at 8 and 10 weeks old. My under achiever seems to be beating the curve and is kicking them out of the nest at 4 weeks. LOL. I pray your mama does better!!! Oh well, they will be tough little things for the number of times they have been trampled or forgotten and pecked by a randomly passing hen.

I definitely have two Crested Cream Legbar mix cockerels if anyone is in the market for one. They will be free to a good home or I will keep them. They look to be Crested Cream Legbar/Dark Cornish cross but might also be Crested Cream/Barred Rock cross.

I have nothing to gain from this EXCEPT if the promotion doesn't get 30 shirts ordered I don't get mine

Crazy Chicken Lady shirts available here: http://teespring.com/crazychickladyv2

(This is a new fangled way for people to get the shirt they want without having to process the orders. Pretty cool actually....people from all over order the same shirt but they are shipped to each individual's home.)

What is this Croy creeks trader fair? Can I take chickens there and trade them without giving any kind of notice?

i thought i would post some photos of my girls new coop:)

i made the stairs so it can be raised and out of the way when cleaning bedding

i love the shelves in the coop as i can store more chicken stuff in there and not inside my house

oyster shell in the food hanger and their dust bath

i added windows to allow in more natural light

i also added in pet doors for their entrances. i like them as they come with a slider so when i want to block off a run just slip it on

all doors lead to a fenced in run so no worries about predators :)

Really great! What kind of coop is that? I need something about that size.

HAHAHAHA....I could use a sign like that. May have hubby make me one! (He does vinyl signs.)

This is actually just a prefab shed that I purchased on Amazon. We have made many modifications to it including windows, shelving, perches, nesting boxes, ladder, pet doors, food hangers and attached runs on the exterior. It took a really long time as I started it last fall and the crazy winter prevented any work on it. I have found that I will have to lower the two higher nesting boxes but all the girls prefer the higher roosting pole, imagine that. Birds are silly.
