INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@kittydoc maybe the cat was a mean old cat and deserved to be tortured. I have seen some cats that would claw an eyeball out given the chance.

Most likely that was not the case. I'm all in favor of treating animals correctly. They give us so much; food, medical advancements, even donating their animal parts to us humans when of all things our hearts fail us.

Back on topic:
While I had a rooster get frostbite last year, I hope it won't happen this year and I have made multiple changes to help prevent it. But I have a rooster now whose comb tip look purple in just cold weather, I fear for him the most.

@SallyinIndiana Now that I have older cockerels, I worry more about frostbite, too. My lavender Orps have big combs and wattles for their age. Fingers crossed for all of us to have as little of it as possible!

No.  They are Midget Whites, not Beltsville Whites.  The only APA recognized variety I have would be the slates.  Not sure what varieties are recognized by 4H.
we follow APA, ABA, rules, i have located Beltsville in Canada, so in going with those. Thank you very much! I have wrote down your info though incase anyone i know is looking for those breeds ;)

Well, winter has begun, its been freezing out on the plains of Montgomrery County here. Or maybe it's just because there are no trees nearby anymore so the wind is always whipping around. I've been toting one gallon waterers around to water the birdies. So far the new coop, (or what will be the coop in the spring, now its just a dirt floored room) is plenty of room for them and everyone's happy and healthy. I've not seen any frostbitten faces or feet so that's good and all the young boys getting along.

Kab, that rug looks very nice!

I got my yarn yesterday and dove right in. I used up all of my rug yarn but I have something really soft to squish my toes in now. :) First project finished. :) It gave me something to do while my little paints hatch.
That's a beautiful rug! ... and it's nice to know that I am not the only one who is hatching this time of year!!!

Haven't had a whole lot of time here lately -- been busy having booths (and making more items to restock) at craft bazaars the last couple of weekends & this coming one too. Just a reminder for all 4-Her's out there (you've probably heard this but our local club leaders are panicking that not everyone will remember

): online enrollment started November 1 and ends January 15 for all of Indiana. If a 4-Her enrolls after January 15 they can do their project but they will not be allowed to exhibit/show at their fair. Enrollment is so easy to put off doing -- don't want anyone to forget about it with the holidays coming up. As long as 1 project is selected a 4-Her can complete enrollment. Other projects can be added/dropped after January 15.

adorable.

It was a size P crochet hook. :)
