INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

It is for me too. I purchase all the ingredients for my feed there except for the Nutribalancer which I get from a Fertrel dealer. I like them because I get organic which is hard to find anywhere else.

If you don't care about the herbicide/pesticide/GMOs, there is likely a conventional feed mill closer to your area.

Deff not taking it off the list!! I'm new to poultry, any feed advice? Chicks to adult? I'm deff gonna fodder!!

Now I have a couple questions...

I was going to ask how they are on feed consumption. You said big eaters as chicks, but to they really seem to level off about the same as other breeds?  How do they compare to the orpingtons that people always advise avoiding due to feed conversion?

Do you sell chicks or hatching eggs?

I have not had orpingtons so it is hard to say. I thought they had slowed down on the feed by 7 weeks or so and they are good free Rangers. Someone on the Bielie thread may have more scientific data.

I will be doing chicks and eggs this Spring and will make sure my prices are reasonable. I'd rather share the breed and don't need the prices others are asking!

Here we go!

Got to experience my first issue with ground predators the last couple nights. Saw a opossum running through the yard two nights ago when I was pulling up after work. By the time I got in and got the gun out of safe and loaded he was long gone. Didn't notice any missing but didn't really take accurate counts. Didn't see him last night or tonight. That is until I opened up one of the coops. The dirty little guy was huddled in the corner with 3 dead chickens around him. i was trying to shoot him through the chicken door instead of lifting the lid and putting me within 2 ft of it but now I have to patch a few bullet holes in the coop too lol. I guess I'm not that great of an aim in the dark with a hand gun. Regardless I was successfully able to eliminate the threat!
