be careful buying cemani chickens...there are a lot of people that are selling the hmong chicken which looks just like a cemani...for 5 buck...and if there is no proof of the birds being bought from toni or greenfire farms then they are prolly the hmong chicken...im getting hmong chicks for 5 bucks a piece.....so keep this in mind...a lot of people out there are trying to scam people on these birds because they are of high value....no cemani breeder is going to sell you eggs for 25....and if he has to many they are prolly sitting around which isn't good after seven days...

Although I already saw this clip last year, someone sent it again to me today.  I find it very funny, because now I can relate even more.  Just yesterday I took some Christmas pics of the kids holding the usual holiday props.  Well, last year we took some photos with the chickens by the tree, so of course now it's a Christmas "tradition."

Well, I gave in to temptation today and purchased some German Bielefelder chicks. Three hens for $15 each and two free roosters. They are all settled into the brooder.
The lady raises 7 different breed of chickens and ships chicks all over the country. She has a first class set-up for sure. All breeds penned separate, plus they breed English Bulldogs. They had 20 in their kennel.
She was headed to the post office to ship chicks to Alabama this afternoon. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

You all are always talking about hawks and how your chickens react.  Today I saw a Coopers hawk fly up and land in a tree in the back yard.  I went out and chased him off.  My free ranging chickens what did they do?  NOTHING they did not react at all.  That is the 2nd time that has happened,  The first time I saw a hawk swoop in low in the back yard.  I ran out and the chickens were up aganst the garage but acted like nothing was happening.  I guess sooner or later one will disappear.  (I hope its the hawk)

I had one today. Again all 4 of my Peafowl puffed up walking towards the woods which is what caught my eye and one hen was squaking away...then the dog chimed in so I let him out to see the hawk fly deeper into the woods and he took off after it!! Can't brag enough about that dog! Such a good boy! No casualties thankfully! I did catch a silkie pullet FINALLY laying her first egg today. Out of Approx 40 hens I got 6 eggs today but I am so pumped that about half of them have much more reddened combs today!!

Good news all around! We have two red-tailed hawks that live 1/4 mile down the road plus a couple young bald eagles that fly over every couple days! Good reasons I don't let my girls free range!

Yeah I had too many losses this year really! More adults than years past too which is worse IMO!

yep...and I have tried to get the guy to give me somesort of proof that the birds came from there and he has no proof...but the choice is yours...I personally would just buy the five dollar hmong chicken...which he has...and he sent me pictures of...instead of believing that they are cemani without proof....
