INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey all! It's been awhile...I have successfully moved myself and my dog (squeal) to our new home. Some guy friends have been building my chicken coop and all but some finishing touches need done. I have been trying to catch birds in the evenings...not an easy task!

For some reason pretty much all my birds are sleeping in a lower level tree lately. We have two coops at my parent's house and the bigger of the two has been empty the last week or so. I have no clue why they are doing this! I haven't had any predator attacks in the last month or so, the coop is clean and warm compared to the breezy tree!

I'm not sure how I am ever going to get them all before it starts snowing. My new coop at my house closes them in at night and there aren't any trees low enough that they can get into.

I can probably even get some peas now! Hopefully I'll be able to do that in the next month or so, since there are many that need homes!

Here is inside the coop:

1 turkey hen has slept in the coop since my pea baby was snatched by the owl. Tonight shes back out with the others and momma pea took her baby in tonight. However my boy Rocky is up high on the playset in the back of the property! Freaking me out! If something happens to him i will just be a mess!

This is what the turkeys have been doing. ..assuming they are just making themselves look as big as possible!

Quote: I will tell DH we have to come weekend after this one. Look at her hooves, she may need trimmed. Nubian need trimmed more often than you expect.. They will founder faster than smaller breeds too.

That sounds great. The goat that is limping is Ice Cream, the goat I got from you as a kid. I looked at the hooves they don't look like they need trimming. I plan to trim this Saturday but there really won't be much to trim. But if it is raining or lots of mud then I'll wait a day or two to trim. The hooves were just trimmed the day before Thanksgiving for all of my goats.
Oh then it can't be hooves, thats pretty recent. She may have been springing and playing, landed wrong. Sophie does that on occasion, she is such an active girl.

Looks familiar! Thats what my turkeys do too. If my geese are out freely ranging, we have no predator problems at all. With so much housing being built around us, our quiet country road has become a speedway, and I can't risk them going into the road. The new grade school has really increased the traffic. If I am not outside with them my geese and ducks stay penned now.

Looks like Moms going to get to come home Tuesday! Dad and I are visiting during the day, my Sis and nephew in the evenings. She is recovering so well they feel she won't even need cardiac rehab.
I still have a few Breda roosters available to good homes, PM if interested. Very calm, social breed and would be an awesome flock roo. I have yet to hear any of them crow.
