Hope your babies get well soon, and congratulations on building your new coops! I'm also terrified of power tools (so I haven't built any myself yet!Its been crazy busy around here and I dont get a chance to check the board very often. My youngest son (6) came down with strep on Christmas Eve, then my youngest daughter who turns 9 today fell at her grandma's on Christmas Day and broke her finger. So I spent part of both days in the ER.
In chicken news, I'm still hatching chicks. I have some hatching today. After every group I tell my husband no more until Spring, then someone comes along and takes every one I have. Same with the rabbits. I havent been able to hold any back for myself yet lol.![]()
Ive managed to build 3 new coops/pens all by myself! I am seriously terrified of power tools so this is major to me.![]()
Ive also started the process to become NPIP certified.
I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, Happy New Year!
What's a BYM?I have some BYM I need to get rid of. Also 2 lavender barred Muscovy if Janet doesn't want them. And an adult black Muscovy drake split to lav/choc iirc.
I'm so lost for words these days have been greatly sad on Kelevra farms a jersey giant chick died as well as three barred rocks one of my lovely light brahma girls wasn't active today and I'm so scared and don't know what to do she's so sweet this state is really testing my nerve..
I'm so sorryI've technically been here near two years but left last fall for business came back in the spring which is when I first got the chickens the chicks are in a brooder in the shed where I had my cx but I think I didn't clean it enough the brahma was about laying age and was put in a breeding pen on Christmas.. They hate it so much in there it's not the brooder any more(yes I know near laying age still in the brooder what!!! Pen took awhile to complete and guess I have to fix a lot of it)![]()
Just got the text I feared the most she didn't make it... I feel like crying ugh I actually did all the way home
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry. If a chicken is not drinking/eating, then you may be able to tube feed some liquids with meds. I did it for my Cuddles & she thankfully bounced back. I hated doing it, but it helped her through those worst couple days until she could eat & drink on her own. Not sure if I could have done it for an entire flock, but Cuddles is something special. Here are some linksSo back on hells farm I came home from preggos appointment and checked on the chickens and arie my favorite of all the chickens and only Araucana was laying on the ground head down eyes closed feet kicked to the side I grabbed her up put her in a milk crate and put it in one of the empty brooders but I feel she's already to close to gone to save.. My nephew is freaking out and just went to get her to bring her inside.. I don't know what I'm going to do without her she was so smart followed me around and squatted down everytime I was near she loved to be picked up
Dakshan why don't you post in the emergency section of BYC? Maybe someone can help you. Is there anyway you can take your chicken to the vet? I don't know if they need antibiotics but if you have any electrolites to give the sick hen. I'm sorry you are having all these problems. I wish I could help you more.
