INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

@nenebynature
I love mint too! I finally got hold of some Mountain Mint and I let it grow right in the beds. It is nice because it tends to stay a little more contained to an area, thought it does spread. Also purchased a chocolate mint this year but so far only have it in a pot. Not sure if I'm going to let it out yet :)

PS: My gardens are small...they just look "fantastical" in the photos. I was telling my husband that I like to look at the photos I posted because the photos make it look so much nicer :p

(Not to mention my laziness covering everything with cardboard so I don't have to weed!! Thankfully it mulches and builds great soil too.)

I absolutely love chocolate mint. It is my favorite to use for tea in the evenings. I also have pineapple mint that I use in the chicken coop. Actually I've lost track of all the cultivars that I have. I love it all! I will have to look for some mountain meant to add to my "collection"! Thanks for the suggestion

I can totally appreciate that!

Enjoyed visiting with @jchny2000 yesterday. Got to see the cattle herd - such beauties! Love those Jersey eyes. New electric fencing, baby poultry of assorted types, goats, a new chicken breed in the making, giraffes, and a couple of lion cubs. (Well...I exaggerate a little...but not much!)

Thanks for letting me come!!!! I know the girls are more work for you until your daughter comes for them.

How is the chocolate mint for spreading...is it pretty typical? Trying to decide where I should plant it or if I will just leave it in the pot this year.

I love the idea of using it for tea.

Too bad you aren't closer - I'd give you some mountain mint :)

Are you using the fly predators? I remember looking into them when @SallyinIndiana told us about them. Right now, with only the chickens, I don't have a huge fly population.

On the predators, I wondered if it might introduce a bug into the area that's not native and cause any unforeseen problems.

it is a typical spreading mint. My auntie grows it in a really big pot and it just looks beautiful.
