So I have finally integrated my four ~9week old chicks in with my ~6 month old pullets. They do alright with one another during the day, but the little chicks still haven't figured out going into the coop at night. So these past few nights I pick them up and put them in the coop. They immediately try to rush out. So I shut the door to the coop.
Should I try keeping them in the coop during the day for a day or two so they know this is where they are supposed to sleep? I kind of figured they would just follow the pullets in at the end of the night, but they don't.
Since those photos were taken Mr Babe has grown! And he's crowing! I'll take some more photos soon and post.Wow. What a hunk a roo! My buff Orpington that I'm thinking could be a he looks very similar to yours. I am going to just be patient though. I've had mixed reviews when I posted pictures. The other six First Ladies are squatting and at least four are laying. The buff Orpingtons are running on their own schedule.
We're getting ducks, eventually. It's in our "five year plan." I hope that's NEXT year! We have picked a place for a pond, and have started to acquire the pond plants, planting them in our swales to keep them with moist feet. Next year we're planning to get rabbits, too. Gosh, getting tired thinking about caring for rabbits, ducks AND chickens.I'm buying all these Muscovy's Friday for $6 each!!! I have learned that people who only text are not serious people. As soon as I text back saying to call me because I want to speak to them live, the "text only" ones disappear and the serious people willingly call. That's my screening process. The ones that make it through that all turn out to be kind, friendly people. They all say they don't blame me for wanting to speak live with CL strangers first, and they would do the same thing.
I bet your No Show would never have called you live. They sound like that type. You would have been able to rule them out pretty easily.
