INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

You might check with @kittydoc she has stunning orps!

Hi @wheezy50. Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I will have chocolate and chocolate cuckoo English Orps this year if they ever start feeling like breeding. I know what you mean by some having incorrect body type. My current roo is a happy and handsome single barred guy who is from Fancy Chick lines. He and my girls are well proportioned. I had one hen with a very short back that produced nice chicks, but she will be retired to my layer flock henceforward.

So I've found a local Wheat and Barley seller!!! $13 for a 50lb bag of wheat seeds, and $20 for a 50lb bag of Barley seeds! I've spent well over $5000 a year on buying wheat and barley online and having it shipped to me! The seeds are Non-GMO and grow way better then the seeds I've been buying online!

Will you sprout them?

Hi, Fezmo.
Welcome to BYC from a fellow circle-city person.
We love to see pictures of your coop and setup. Do you currently have any chickens?
What's your experience/goals with your flock?

I actually am a part of a school on a small farm. Currently we have 10 chickens because we just sold 35 of our birds! i can send you pictures of our coop at a later time.

@Nyla
Is it possible for you to get organic from them rather than non-gmo?

Even if it is non-gmo, chemical fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides are still used in the production which makes for a contaminated seed. This is INTERNAL not just on the surface of the seed so it can't be washed off.

I'm hoping that there will soon be a new classification something to the effect of: "Certified Glyphosate Free" or "Certified Synthetic Chemical Free" seed.

Glyphosate (AKA roundup) for example, was created as an antibiotic. So everything we consume that it has been used on affects us as an antibiotic would....including what our chickens are eating and then their output in eggs or meat.

We always complain about antibiotic resistance and how the factory farms are using them and making us all at risk. But few realize the level of just glyphosate in our bodies. Even mother's milk from US humans tests with levels of glyphosate in it!!!! And that doesn't begin to list all the chemicals used in fertilizers and other herbicides, insecticides, etc....

Okay...off my soapbox. Carry on.
