[Attack Chicken]

tomorrow I'll be going to the fair with my chooks. Hopefully I can get rid of the meaniest lil OEGB turd outback... He's the prettiest but the meaniest. Hopefully going to get rid of 3-4 of the OEGB roos ,2 Mille D'uccle roos,1 bantam RIR roo ,1 bantam white leghorn roo, and maybe a blue bantam wyandotte roo. I might keep him tho so i can breed him the the splash pullet to maybe get a nlue pullet again.

No bantam has laid anything yet. Which I'm kind of surprised.

I still have to bathe the Standard leghorns tomorrow. It was so much fun blowdrying the showgirl!!

Before I forget (again), is anyone interested in guinea pigs?? I can't promise anything, but a friend of mine breeds them, and I believe she sells them for like $12?? I might be able to get some, if anyone wants one. They would be babies, she sells them as soon as they are weaned (about 3-4 weeks old). We have 2 from her, and they are as different as night and day! Our older one, Debbie, is a nibbler. She likes to nibble on your finger/hand/whatever is close, but they are like love bites, and don't hurt. She is very personable, and very calm. Our other one, April, is pretty skittish still, and a fast little runner!!

Can't let her out to roam, or she'll take off. But she is very sweet, and doesn't nip at all. They are just like any other animal, each one is an individual. I'm sure if we were to work with April more, she would calm down.

So anyone interested in some baby guinea pigs? I only see my friend at the auction on Friday nights, so either this week or next, if she has any. Let me know.

I am not sure if her sister did it or if she got spooked by one of my aunts dogs barking or something and jumped up and hit her head in the right spot. She was still on oral antibiotics so we will just keep that up. She spooked herself good tho, was breathing heavy when I got home so I separated the others, got a towel, calmed her down a bit, cleaned her off some then waited til she calmed a little more and put her back in her house by herself

She had just gotten the drs thumbs up for good healing too LOL

Maybe her sister was jealous of her gold star??

These are coturnix quail? Mine don't normally bonk, but if she was bloody again, I would say it was probably one of the other quail. You might never be able to put her back in the group. One trick I've learned is to move them all to a new cage/location when integrating someone new to the group, it kind of throws them all off, and they don't notice the newbies so much. If she has been removed, the others are either seeing her as new, or her injury was caused by the others to begin with, and they just don't like her. I had this problem with a tibetan tux hen I have. She was raised with the birds she was housed with, but one of the other hens is a real bully. I removed the injured one and put her in the infirmary cage till she was almost healed. When I put her back, not only was that same hen bullying her, but the male was chattering up a storm, he really didn't like her! So I moved her to another pen, which also didn't work. Finally, in pen #3, she gets along. Probably because the ones in that pen are young, like 2 months old or less. They don't know that they are supposed to hate her I guess

Forgot to say that some people use the large-bubble bubblewrap to line the top of the cage with, this would also help, at least with cuts from flying up. But the window screen works better.
