indoor or outdoor wire?

Trying to install winter light for my coop.
I am planning to use 12v LED strip light. Do I need to use indoor or outdoor wires? The unit will be under a covered roof. But it will get cold in winter.
The current is less than 1 amp.

Cold shouldn't matter, but if there is any risk of rain coming sideways or of condensation dripping I'd use outdoor-rated fixtures for a chicken coop.

So it runs off batteries, or do you have a transformer?

If you are running electrical wires they have to be outdoor rated. Those are the NEC legal requirements. You will also want to make sure your strip lights are outdoor rated. Indoor ones are not designed to withstand weather conditions. Even under an the eaves they would be suspectible to moisture.
