Indy area Chicken work Co-Op

Yes we need to get it Saturday! ! It's in Bargersville I need someone who can haul it and people to load it. The shed is 8 feet long 5 feet wide and 6 feet tall. My gate to get into my fence is 5 foot 2 inches if I take the door off so I think we could just squeeze in!

I went to lowes yesterday but I have no idea what I need to get to modify it to a coop. 1 piece of particle board? 2? 2x2s and 2x4s? Lineoleum? Paint? I know the stuff I need for a run.

Do a search of BYC for people who converted a shed to a coop to get a concrete idea of what you want. Once you know what you need to do with it re-post for us to help give you a list of materials. I'm sure what I would want to do, and the materials I would need, would differ from other people's plans.

I have a truck and trailer that will work. I need to take care of this early, so can you coordinate with the seller to pick it up at 8:30 or 9am?

I will bring my brother with me. So we will only need one or two more people to load it. Then maybe one or two to meet at your place to unload it.

We won't be able to stay after unloading. Maybe some people who aren't available early could help you with the build.

you will know more once you get it in place. Did you decide what you wanted to do for nesting boxes? The central IN chicken FB page had a post of a guy in central IN selling some great looking ones for $35. I don't think I could build them for that price or even tell you what to buy and have it cost less.

For a roosting bar, you will need a 2x4 and some longer screws to attach it. you may need a bit of scraps from that 2 x 4 to use as supports depending on the shed's framing and if the interior is walled or not.

If it needs doors, those might be the hardest thing to make for a first project. But you would need hinges, and either an old door or 2 x 4s to make a frame and wood of some kind to be the wall part of the door. You would also need a latch. For chicken doors I have read of almost anything being used even an old kitchen cutting board. I love my ador door but it was a lot more money than a cutting board and I would not recommend spending that much on a chicken door till you have had chickens for a while.

Well I really could use someone to go shop with me to help me pick out what I need. I could come to you!

I want linoleum floors
Nest box or nesting area
Roosting space
A poop board under the roosting space that I can take out and clean
I want to put 4-8 feet of concrete blocks out of one side to make a little protected area, with a perch on it, maybe a landscape timber
A roof over the area with the bricks
And a run using cage wire and those green posts, 5 feet tall and with a gate
Oh and I need to cut windows for ventilation and I need a door and a ramp

I also could use help converting it

Anyone able to help?

Sounds like the unload is set, and the move. How can we help? Just let me know whats needed.

By the way, thank you thank you thank you thank you

You guys are the most generous wonderful beautiful people. Thank you so much. If anyone wants I can get my little grill out and barbecue some awesome ribs with home made barbecue sauce and people could bring some sides and desserts. Make this fun. I bet we could have it done that day!

I'd like to help but it is Easter weekend and I have family in town all weekend. I could help out the following weekend.
