It looks to me like we have the loading and transport figured out. @LonelyPageTurne , can you pm the address for the pickup to me and @SallyinIndiana ?

Since Sally's DH can't help unload, we could use at least one or two people to meet us to unload the shed.

Well I really could use someone to go shop with me to help me pick out what I need. I could come to you!

I want linoleum floors
Nest box or nesting area
Roosting space
A poop board under the roosting space that I can take out and clean
I want to put 4-8 feet of concrete blocks out of one side to make a little protected area, with a perch on it, maybe a landscape timber
A roof over the area with the bricks
And a run using cage wire and those green posts, 5 feet tall and with a gate
Oh and I need to cut windows for ventilation and I need a door and a ramp


I also could use help converting it

I can't help with the shopping trip, but I'd say that any of the big box home improvement stores would pretty much be a one stop shop for you to pick up the items you have listed above.

I would recommend you wait until you have the shed in place before you go buy anything. That way you can see how much space you have to work with and can take direct measurements so you don't over or under buy. Also expect no less than two emergency trips to the store to pick up stuff that nobody thought of...

As a general note to anyone who would like to participate. I know we are kind of winging it with the effort to get LonelyPageTurne off the ground. But I think in the future it would help if we could pick a next project well in advance so that people can plan to attend and the person with the project will have time to prepare.

So - people with projects (I'm pretty sure that is all of us), think about what you have that would suit having several people come over and help for a day.

I'll volunteer to coordinate, but i want everyone to be involved in the choosing and planning of the co-op projects.

That being said, I guess we also need to figure out how to agree on a project to do. I don't want this to get too formalized or anything, but a little organization can go a long way to making this successful.

So if anyone has any ideas on a method to fairly choose which project we will do next, please post so we can discuss it.

I agree - and I think it would be good to plan on no more than one a month, planned at least a month out so people can get things on their schedules.

Guys I want to thank you again. So a much. You know, I don't really have any friends out here, I have a special needs son who probably won't walk until he's 3 or 4, I only have a couple of people I talk to on occasion. Your generosity and kindness has me in tears over here. Keeping chickens has been helping me with my intractable depression and I really want you to know from the bottom of my heart how very much this means to me thank you so much. Thank you.

Is anyone going to be able to stick around and help convert it? I can get the stuff for the run and the post thingy, just don't know how to put a gate on those.

For a roosting bar think of how easy it would be to make a door frame. I'm thinking you can handle it even without power tools once you have the measurements since lowes will cut the 2 x 4 to the size you need. But if the shed is framed out nicely you just need to mount 1 2*4 across the top framing.

But converting it won't be as bad as you think.  Just pick one item and allow two evening for it.  Even though most will only take one evening, allowing two will give you time to shop.  And I really vote for picking up a premade nest box from Tim on the FB group.  His prices are great and it will save you the largest hassle.  Unless you already have something you can change into a nesting box.  But to make nessting boxes you need hardware, plywood, 2x4 wood, and plans.  They are not as easy to make the first time around as some of the how to threads on here make them appear.

So the person with the shed doesn't want to give out her address til the day (hopefully Friday she will tell me) but for planning the nearest life intersection is State rd 135 and 144
