I'm not sure what happened, I suspect one of the roosters got to her but her eye is very clearly infected. It was crusted shut so i gently wiped it with a warm, wet cloth. As the crust came off pus came out

. I cleaned it up and she has it open now but how sholud I treat it? I've read on here a dilute of chamomile tea and perhaps an antibiotic ointment. Can I use a human OTC brand? Any other suggestions? Oh, they always have a kiddie pool to splash about in, changed daily, sometimes twice. TIA!

Yes, the dilute lukewarm chamomile should help, if you can get Veterycin, it is well recommended by some Duck Forum members (I need to get some, myself).

I feel that time in lukewarm clean (I know, it doesn't last) water makes a tremendous difference, partly for cleaning and loosening dried blood and pus, and partly because it just seems to make ducks feel happier, and those happy hormones speed healing.

I am not 100% sure about human OTC, are you thinking a triple antibiotic ointment? I have not done that, always think that antibiotics that are specifically to be used in the eyes are the way to go.

Good that they have a pool!

How is her breathing? Any sign that infection may have moved into her nares or sinuses or ears?
