I noticed one of my chickens having a hard time walking a couple of days ago. I immediately brought him inside to see what I could do about it. I saw that both of his feet had a number of lumps that had a "cottage cheese " like substance inside. I tried to remove as much of it as I could from the open ones but I had a difficult time. It looks like you could squeeze the lump and everything would come out but I literally had to scrape it out and even then I didn't get very much of it out. The feet are swollen enough that he can't move his toes. I have done a lot of research and everything is pointing to bumblefoot but there is no black scab on the bottoms of his feet and the lumps and mainly on the toes and legs. I have soaked both feet in Epson salt and cleaned them with peroxide then covered then in neo then wrapped in gauze and tape. I do not know what else to do for him. If anyone knows what this is or has heard of it then please let me know!

Pictures can help. Swollen feet can also be from gout or mycoplasma synoviae, as well as from bumblefoot and bacterial arthritis. It sounds like you were squeezing out pus before it hardened into a cheesy kernel that we see in bumblefoot. But I think gout can cause swelling where it is hard to move the toes. Thanks. I will get some pictures when I change the dressing. But it doesn't really look like the gout picture Or it hasn't progressed to that point. The foot still has most of its shape Other than the lumps.
