Hi guys, I’m new to this site and I really need your help.

we recently got some old battery hens about 4 weeks ago and one of my chickens I have had for a while which is relatively young and healthy has all a sudden come up with a swollen eye, a bit of blood on the beak and wheezy.

At first I thought she may of been attacked by something due to the blood on the beak but today her condition has gotten worse, standing hunched over, wheezing a lot more and eye swelling even worse. So i searched what was happening to her and it came up with infectious coryza and that it might of come from the new hens we rehomed.

I’m from the uk, and I’m quite worried About this being spread to the rest of the flock but also I have some guinea keets soon to be hatching under one of my broody hens and I dont want the keets getting the infection as well as my flock.

I can’t seem to find anywhere about what treatment I need to get and how to get it.

I would really appreciate the help!

Thanks
G

I recommend that you cull the sick bird. Birds with Coryza that survive remain carriers for life and will infect other birds, with or without treatment. It's also possible that a bird can not only have Coryza, they can have multiple other respiratory diseases going on at the same time. In your instance I suspect your hen may have Infectious Laryngotracheitis (ILT) due to the blood.
Also birds with Coryza have a foul odor around the head area. If there is no foul odor, I'd suspect Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) and ILT.
Here's a link listing the diseases mentioned and others as well:
