The respiratory test couldn't be done by blood, tissue etc? would it have to be a necropsy?

MG and MS can be done by blood and possibly a swab (there is a special name for it, but I can't remember it, lol).

Call them, ask to speak with an avian pathologist, insist that you are not willing to cull, and get their recommendations.

Call them and ask what you need to send, but tell them you don't want to send the bird. They should be able to do all of the tests with blood and swabs, just like a vet would collect to send to the lab.
