hello I am new here, my bantam was attacked by the other chickens last night. He is breathing, but not moving much. Trying to give water. Any suggestions? He is separated from the rest. We just love all our chickens like family and worried for him. Thanks!

Hi there, welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry your boy is having trouble. :(

How old is he? Do you keep light on at night? What makes you think it was the other chickens that did this?

If it was dark when he was attacked it wasn't the chickens as they stay put in the dark.

Where are you located and what is your regular feed? After an attack some probiotics MAY be helpful. Drinking is the most important thing as dehydration is deadly fast. A little scrambled egg.. can be a great short term boost as they are very nutritious, often very palatable, and also super easy to digest. They are 34% protein and 64% fat. so again short term BOOST.

If it WAS your flock that did this.. was it just a rooster battle this guy lost? Or sometimes a flock will eliminate a weak link.. Did he have an injury or health condition that you didn't know about maybe?

Pictures will definitely help.. your first description sounds scary but your second one sounds average. Hope all is well for real! :fl

thanks! He has been in a separate coop from others. He was born in April. We ordered chicks that are now old enough to be in the smaller separate coop so Bugsy was moved into larger coop with the 9 older chickens ( various ages). They were all getting along well when free ranging. I thought they would leave him alone. It was definitely the chickens, or rooster. When I put him in last night I put him in the indoor coop, others were roosting in outside area. Found him in corner by door, barely moving. I will send pics later. We live in central Wisconsin. The food does not contain probiotics. My daughters are trying to get him to drink I hope to leave work soon to help. thank you for responding
