Injured chick advice needed please

Happy that she's getting better! It will probably take a while longer before she begins to use her leg more. I know that leg injuries in chickens are often rather slow to heal. Hopefully, she recovers soon!

I wouldn't worry too much about the sneezing--my chickens sneeze occaisionally, especially during the winter months. Just keep her immune system up with good food and rest. If you have some, give her some electrolytes and probiotics. She'll be fine without a heat source as long as the temperature doesn't drop below 70 F or so.

Antibiotics will help if she gets a bacterial respiratory disease, but won't prevent her from getting a viral one. As long as she's isolated from other birds and kept warm and comfortable, she probably won't get a respiratory disease.

We had a little sunshine yesterday so we had half an hour on the grass with a tomato she was a little nervous and was better Sat between my legs - afterwards she had a little bath which she was less than impressed with but she was super cute in her towel and fluffy as you like once she dried !

So very sorry to hear about your chickies some people just shouldn't have animals when they can't even take the time to walk their dog so irresponsible it makes me so angry...
Hope that she is doing ok, I looked at your post on the other thread and saw the pics and nearly died - poor little girl - I'm thinking about you both x

Awwww, that's so cuuuute! Watch out, you can start some really bad habits in rehab. This is during Caramel's stint.

I have good news on my front. I thought for sure I was losing Puff the other night. She'd stopped eating her protein shake and was listless. When I left for work, I didn't expect her to be alive when I came home. But she was, somehow. She still wouldn't take her protein shake, and I already know that you have three days max of them not eating anything before it's just too much for them. I was sitting with her before I went to bed, trying to get her to take a little, but she was still refusing. I washed my hands and went to take care of my two chicks, which I try to hand feed occasionally to get them used to me, and I looked at the crumble in my palm, then lowered it down to Puff and just said "please". She stared at it for about half a minute, then started pecking away. When she stopped, I got her some water and held iit up for her, and she drank some!

That was Friday night. I've been giving her medicated crumble with mashed up egg yolk since, but she only eats when I hold it for her. I even have platforms in her tub that have the food and water elevated so she doesn't have to bend her neck, but she won't touch it unless I'm there.

Once again, I was convinced she wasn't going to make it, and she had to prove me wrong. Superbly resilient creatures.

And thanks for the commisseration, Shabana. The hugs are much appreciated and returned a hundredfold.

But at this rate you're going to have to look into chicken diapers for Pudding!

Yup I'm gonna gave to make puddings owner an offer for her cos I simply can't let her not be a part of our lives now I have 3 small flocks and so I hope once recovered she will be able to join one. If not she can be a house/garden chicken although I'm home all day I'd prefer her to have proper company but we'll see how she progresses. She's not putting her foot to the floor yet and I think it's the ankle bit that has broken as she is moving the knee bit fine now and her swellings and wounds are healing nicely

Great news !!!

Pudding is putting her foot to the floor. Only briefly and not to really bear weight but she's stretching out her toes (her foot was balled up before) and scratching lightly at the floor and twice I saw her scratch her head with her poorly foot too !!

I am ecstatic !
I can see light at the end of the tunnel and it looks sunny

I would have never gotten through this without this amazingly fabulous site and the support and knowledgeable people who are it's members.
