Injured chick advice needed please

My cat tried to investigate the chickens today while we were all outside:
400

Not two seconds after I snapped this shot, this little hen chased the cat all the way across the yard :) I wish I had been recording, it is quite a sight to see a 20 lb cat running away from a 5 lb hen!!

Haha !! Priceless !
I'm hoping once Pudding gets a little bigger she will hold her own too :)

Hero is pretty placid and laid back. At 6 he takes things in his stride. Cocoa my seal point Siamese is only 1 and she is a giddy kipper and goes everywhere at full pelt. She thinks Pudding is a new toy so we have to be very careful at the moment !

Just had a closer look at your photo wow that is a big cat !!

I envy your outdoor space :) gardens in the UK are seldom big and if they are the land comes at a large premium. I keep my hens round the corner from my house in the field where I grow my veg. I am going to inquire about the field behind my house (in the picture) as it would be even more convenient to use and let them free range during the day.

I look at photos of big gardens with woods and privacy and I drool lol

I look at photos of places without a country club next door and I drool...

How I long for the ability to keep chickens in MY backyard... instead of my neighbors.

So Pudding spent the night in the babies coop last night, this is my new plan.
I'm taking her to roost with them (them being 4 adults and 12 babies the sameish age as her) then when I let them out in a morning she goes in a little run under the poorly coop which is in their pen so they can see her.
When I've finished cleaning out all my flocks which is an hour maybe I collect her and bring her home.

The reason I can't leave her is that she won't feed properly unless it's In front of her. My fault I think for being a " feeder" lol
So my aim is to slowly (glacier slow lol) integrate her and then at home I'm going to encourage her out of the cat bed she loves to get her food.

Her walking is still a really a very bad limp and her bad foot seems to stand on her good one. I'm worried incase I didn't set it right ?
I really want her to be able to join the flock but I can't see her being able to get away when she needs to. Before I put her in the poorly run this morning one if the babies was pecking her and she just sat there and put her head down :(

Anyone been through anything similar to this ?

I need a hug :(

Spent a few hours today with pudding in the garden. It's cold but bright. She chose to sit in the herb bit and stuff her beak.

It's really hard not to feed her and offer water. They are close by her but she'll have to move to get them. She has no problem moving when it suits her so I know she can get them if she needs to but it's a test of wills at the moment !

Greenhouse is almost ready so she will have a dry safe area to do her chicken physio :)

I'm currently sat out if her line of sight only about 15 foot away and she's tweeting for me but I'm sitting tight hoping she'll move lol. I'm so rubbish at this sort of thing. Uuurgh I just wanna scoop her up .....

You're doing so well. I can't blame you for wanting to baby her. You just keep doing what you feel is best.

Thanks guys !

2nd night in with the babies tonight and very little fuss. Gave her bum a little push and in she went. Gonna do the same routine until she's better and accepted by them. I just make sure I'm up a little earlier so she's out and in her own run before they've really woken. Each day they'll see her for an hour or thereabouts then I take her home with me and after she's eaten if it's nice she goes in the garden or in the greenhouse if it's not.
Broken limbs are a long haul. I read a lot of posts stating two weeks......NO WHERE NEAR ! We are well over a month now and little Pudding is still limping badly but we are getting there slowly.

I keep thinking that one day she will be so settled that I will come back home without her. That makes me happy for her and sad for me. I'm used to her being about now :)
As ever, thank you for listening and for your support. Sometimes things feel better once they are written down and put in front of people with more "chicken hours" in the bank :D

Xxx
