Injured comb

One of my females injured her comb pretty bad we cleaned it up and put ointment on it but now a day later it's starting to turn black does that mean it's dead or dying and if so how should I proceed first time chicken owner

A picture would help, but if it is turning black, it is most likely 'dead'. It will dry up and fall off all on its own.

Mine just injured her comb too. I had to separate her from the others as I noticed another pecking at her on the roost. Did you separate and if so how long? Did you need to do a full re-introduction? Hope your girl is better now!
