Injured Duck!!! *need immediate help!*

Update- The swelling is now only 1/3 of the size when we brought him in. He continues to eat, drink, and behave just fine and as usual. I continue to put ointment on his 'part', and it does not look dry. Thank you all so much for your help!

I've been trying. I will keep doing all of that until it's completely gone.

I see you lost some birds to a bear, did it break into your coop?

Yeah. One night it visited us around 8:00 p.m , and my dad stayed up until 1:00 a.m to make sure he didn't come back to kill my chickens. The bear came back around 4:00 and killed all but one chicken, our Ginger.

That had to be heartbreaking... So sorry. We have them here too, but so far they haven't tried to get into the coops. Just get into the bird feeders and trash so I now bring in the wild bird feeders and my dh made a bear proof trash can holder. they made a mess of the fence though climbing over it.

All you can do is provide support for him - a clean quiet safe place, water, food, vitamins, attention. Vet care if you can, but we cannot always do that, I understand.

He may let go, and that is sad. You could try syringe feeding him, though that has some risks (getting food in his lungs is bad). But some people do that until their ducks turn the corner.
