Injured Duck

I was out all day and just got home and he's nowhere around now. His brother (who looks exactly like him) is here and I fed him. I really don't have anyone that can help me with this. I live alone and retired.
I have neighbors but I suspect they're the ones who did this because 2 weeks ago I saw them casting fishing lines into the pond. They've seen him with the hook in him and don't seem to care, so i'm pretty much on my own here.
I'll pick up a pair of wire cutters and hope he eventually gets weak enough to catch. I scoured the internet for Animal Rescue or Wildlife Rescue to try and get someone who could catch him professionally.
If anyone can find somewhere that's in the Orlando area who does this, please share. I'm hearing impaired and it's impossible for me to pick up the phone and call around. I feel so helpless about this.

In the state of Florida Muscovys are considered an nuisance and can be killed for that reason only so be careful who you contact.go on the Florida thread at “where am I where are you” and ask for help we have many members that live in Florida hopefully someone close to you will come and help. I wish I was close I’d come help. I love my Muscovy’s .

Here are pics I just snapped of him.

I brought out a bowl of my parrots food that's full of sunflower seeds and cracked corn and he came right up and stuck his beak right in the bowl and tried to devour it. Everytime I tried to place my hand near the hook he moved away, so I just let him eat. I can't believe he ate right from the bowl in my hand.
He didn't eat it all and when he back ed away from the dish, he seemed to have thrown some out of his beak and swung his head vigorously side to side trying to shake the hook off. It's completely heartbreaking to watch and unable to do anything.
But I hope he got some nourishment from the seeds.

As long as you can catch him I think you can pull it out. But as @Jpat said, you should try to clip the barbs off before you pull on it.

I’ve caught turtles while fishing and as long as you remove the barbs, the rest of the hook will come out pretty easily (the whole point of the barb is to prevent the hook from coming out). Yes, he may bleed a little bit but I think he’ll be alright.

If you could prevent him from getting back to the water, I bet you could chase him down - my big Muscovy drakes were only good for a short sprint, then they tired out and could be caught. As already mentioned, you just have to watch out for strong wings and sharp nails when you catch him. That treble hook really needs to be removed. :(

Man that looks real painful. It is so good of you to try to help this fella. I hope you can find some kind of wild life place to come take him. It was a great sign that he ate from the bowl you had. Keep doing that and maybe get a small bag of all flock food just so that it is giving him some better nutrients. I don't know if this would be a good idea or not but once he gets a little more comfortable then try to grab him and take him inside and work on that hook. Watch his toenails..Muscovy's have sharp nails!
