Put flour or cornstarch on the wound to stop the bleeding. Flush with saline, butadiene, or warm water in a spray bottle. Slather it in antibiotic ointment and don't wrap, that could irritate the wound. Separate her for sure, and bring her inside. If she doesn't come inside, flies could laye eggs in the wound, and she could get fly strike. Put apple cider vinegar, sugar, or electroits in her water, that is best. Good luck, Avery

Many Tractor Supply stores stock blood stop powders. In a pinch you can use corn starch.
I would not stitch, glue, or cover it with a bandage. Closing or covering the wound can close in bacteria and encourage infection. Flush it well (which you have done) and apply an antibiotic ointment like plain neosporin or plain triple antibiotic ointment to cover the wounded area. Reapply the ointment several times a day, flush it out again if needed.
Chlorhexidine is good to have on hand for wound flushing (hibiclens, Walmart or any drug store). It looks deep, so I would be prepared to treat any infection if that happens (it very often does not), but if you see discharge, pus, redness or swelling beyond what the wound trauma would give, or any bad smell develops then you may need to add an oral or injectable antibiotic. You can use amoxicillin orally (available as fish mox) or injectable Penicillin G Procaine, most Tractor Supply stores carry also, in the refrigerator. There are a few states you can't get it in. Keep her where flies cannot get into the wounds. Once they are scabbed over that becomes less of an issue. Keeping her on puppy pads or clean towels rather than loose bedding will help keep it clean.
This thread has some pictures of some wounds and how they look during healing, so you havve an idea what to expect and what is normal.

Perhaps VERY LOOSELY pack this wound with the silver antimicrobial bandaging you have...until you get the correct supplies & a treatment plan. Colloidal silver is an incredible antimicrobial wound treatment and/or dressing, but what stops bleeding & causes coagulation is something called Silver Nitrate. Also, Don’t discount the impact that Vetericyn spray can have on infection prevention & wound treatment & healing. It is basically an updated version of something that was created in WWI, called Dakins Solution, to help combat amputation & death due to infection. It is still fairly widely used to this day in human wound care settings!

Thanks everyone sent my husband to go buy styptic powder. But I do have corn starch for now. She keeps pecking at the wound so I don’t know if it would be best to keep it wrapped. The patch I have is not silver nitrate so I won’t use that. But I do have iodine, antiseptic skin cleanser, and normal saline solution. Would it be safe to use the antiseptic? Do I need to water down the iodine? I also have her inside just on cardboard and a towel for her to nest in. My poor girl still laid an egg. But I don’t see her eating or drinking water.

I don't think I would use an antiseptic in something that is greater than a superficial wound. 😕
An antibiotic would be a better choice.
If she doesn't want to eat-- mehh... as long as she stays hydrated.
With the long day she has had, it may take her a minute to drink.
Sounds like you have a good handle on things.
You are doing everything you can and as much as you can. She is lucky to have such a good chickie Mom! 😊

Just wanted to update everyone. My girl seems to be pulling through. At first I just thought her injury was in the back of her neck until I was cleaning it yesterday. She has the gash going down the side. She seems more energized today. I used saline and watered down iodine to clean the wound. I then sprayed her with Vetericyn and I put a nonstick gauze and wrapped her neck. I’m to scared to leave such a big wound exposed. She tried to take off the wrap for like two minutes and then she stopped. I wrapped it real loose to keep any dirt from going in the wound. I’m just worried about the wound closer to her chest. It’s looking a little brownish. Can anyone tell me if the healing looks normal or is it getting an infection? The first picture is the wound behind her neck. The other two are of her chest.
