Hi friends! I have four beautiful hens, and tonight when I was putting them to bed, I noticed one was injured. It was one of my other birds picking on her, not a wild animal. She has a wound on her comb which is bleeding a lot all over the place. I have had this issue in the past and didn’t think much of it at first, because combs tend to bleed a lot even for a small injury. But this is deeper and stuff... I will attach a pic below. I have applied a gentle saline solution and am looking for any other advice. Please help me and my baby girl :)

Gently cleanse the area with plain water then cover her eyes and beak momentarily with a rag that you don't mind staining, then spray the comb will blu-kote; any color will do EXCEPT red. Blu-Kote is a germ-killing, fungicidal wound dressing and healing aid that works to protect animals against common infections and pus-producing bacteria. It penetrates the skin and dries quickly, reducing pus formation and drying up secretions of pox-like lesions. It is deeply tinted and reduces the attention the other flock members pay to the wounds.
As for the bully in your flock that is starting this fiasco, I'd put her in a wire dog crate with food and water and place the crate (with her in it) inside the coop for three to five days. Knock her butt down a peg or two on the totem pole; upon releasing her from chicken jail, she ought to have a right-proper attitude adjustment.

How much room do you have in your coop for the 4 hens? What do they eat? What breeds are they? Some breeds may be more aggressive than others, while some are more meek. Pinless peepers are used by some on hens who bully or peck others. They are put on the beak, and the hen can see to get food, water, and can get around normally, but cannot see her pecking victim clearly. Here is some reading about them:

How do they breathe with the plastic pins in their nostrils?

Hi! Thanks for the help. My 4 hens have plenty of room (an 8-10 chicken coop I think) and all eat a layer crumble. They are all rode island reds. I believe the reason they picked on this hen is because of an accident she had a few months back. She spent a couple months in isolation to recover (it was a near fatal injury to the esophagus), when she returned to the flock she was picked on more then before and has been ever since. Plus she lost a lot of weight and is one of the smallest now. She (the injured bird) is very docile and friendly, so when the bigger girls pick on her she just squats and lets them, bless her heart.❤
She is being kept inside the house in a crate tonight so the others don't peck at the sight of blood. I'll def look into the blu-kote! Thanks again!

When she heals some, you could put her with the other chickens inna wire crate with her own food and water so they cannbe together.
