Hi all! I picked up four new chicks at tractor supply this morning and when I got home I noticed one of them is hopping on one foot. She actually tucks her other foot up by her belly. It doesn't appear to be twisted and she doesn't seem in pain I less I pinch at her joint. He leg is swollen in that area. I tried extending and feeling if her tendon is out of place but nothing felt as though it was moving. Any advice?

I have a buff orpington chick doing the same thing. Standing on one leg an sort of limping. She seems a bit better today thank God because she was also acting sleepy. Shes.more alert today but still pulls that leg up. I had a roo who did this all his life but didn't limp when he walked. It's like a flamingo stands. As long as she's not visibly injured no swelling ect. And she's behaving healthy. Eating drinking not extra sleepy I would just watch and see. If it's a injury you can try splinting her leg. Otherwise just watch her and make sure she continues to thrive. Hope this helps some. They might just like standing like that like my rooster did.
