Injured or sick eye and beak on chicken

Vetericyn is okay to use on the face or around the eyes, but I would use the antibiotic (Neosporin, Terramycin) ointment. Vetericyn spray or eye gel is good for spraying on wounds or using in the eye, but it is not an antibiotic. It is probably bacterial or injury causing the swelling and eye drainage.
She still isn’t opening her eye. I’ve been watching her and she’s scratching at it and that’s where the abrasions are coming from. The lower eyelid seems stuck in place and unable to open. She’s having a hard time eating and drinking and she doesn’t want any help, she is trying though. At this point, would you try to force open the eye to get a better look? Or possibly flush out the eye with something? I’ve been very gentle with her so far because she’s obviously uncomfortable and she isn’t one of my lap chickens.

I’m going to wait on @Eggcessive for some more advice on that. I would be tempted to try to open it myself, but idk if that’s a good idea, I’d hate to hurt her. You say she is a but flighty, try having someone help you if possible and wrap her in a towel (carefully as not to wrap too tight) leaving her head out and try to examine closely that way.

I would drip a little saline or water onto her eye to soften the sticky drainage. Then try to open it with the tips of your thumb and finger. Saline which you can make at home or buy at a pharmacy, would be good to use to flush the eye several times a day. If you have plain Neosporin, applying that into the eye twice a day may make it feel better.

She’s getting worse. Her comb and wattles are so pale now and the eye is still closed and she is still scratching it. I am helping her with eating but I don’t think she is eating enough anymore. We had our 16-year old dog die this week so it’s been tough trying to care for her too.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Is the vet an option? Were you able to try to open her eye? Does she look worse?
