Hi! My rooster injured his toe about two weeks ago, not sure how he did it but I’m guessing it was hardware cloth that cut it. I’ve been wrapping it daily, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, drying then spraying a healing aid for chickens on it. It now looks like this and I’m not sure if this is normal? The blackened skin is hard, will this fall off? It’s not adhering back to his toe and it’s like a flap of skin separate from his toe. Thanks!

If it is not adhering to skin, then clip it off with a nail clipper. This way, it does not accidently rip off, and rip some foot flesh with it.
Just FYI.
I have chickens that lost multiple toes, due to unknown reasons. (possible, chicken osteoporosis, :idunno )
The walk and live a normal life regardless.

The skin flap is a little big and I’m worried that it’ll bleed pretty good if I clip it. Should his nails be shorter? I’m used to cats nails but chickens I’m not sure how long the quick is

Those nails look just fine. I generally only clip nails on chickens when they grow, and turn 90 degrees down.,,,, that usually in my case in spring time,,,, after a winter of no scratching in soil. (to naturally wear nails down)
If you don't feel comfortable clipping the skin flap,,,, Understandable. Just let it fall off on its own eventually.
