A few of our hens have these red places on their wings with broken feathers. Also along the lower back above the tail the feathers are broken or gone, but not as much irritation as the wings. I have checked them over thoroughly for mites, lice or other pests and they are perfectly clean. Is this from the rooster breeding them?

Looks like pretty typical wear from a rooster.
Thanks. Do you recommend removing spurs? Or is it okay for the hens?

I can guarantee that it bothers you a lot more than it bothers the hens. Removing the spurs isn't going to help much because it's his feet that are ripping up the feathers. What is your rooster to hen ratio?
9 hens and 1 Roo, just 2 of them looks this beaten up
