Every hawk attack survivor I've had has had a bald stripe or a gash either on one or both sides of their body. The hawks jump on and try to grab on. If the chicken is moving and trying to get away it strips the feathers off.
Keep an eye on your boy just in case but it looks like a hawk injury. The scab looks normal to me from the pic.
