Insane attacking goose, goosie PMS?

I like to follow all of this up with a victory lap for good measure. Ever seen two ganders go at it? The winner takes a victory lap, wings spread, honking loudly and is met by congratulatory honks all around. Meanwhile the loser sulks quietly around and tries to slip into the back of the flock unnoticed. Be sure to do this. It's the icing on the cake.

Another thing to remember is that, when off the nest, a mother goose will often cover the eggs with whatever is there for bedding (pine shavings, straw) so they might not be immediately visible. When my dewlaps were laying, I had to dig through this pile of straw they would mound over their nest to get the eggs. Clever devils

My ducks are doing that, they've decided to make their nest right next to the rabbits' hay. So the Barred Rock's eggs are nice and toasty under that hay since she's decided she likes the ducks' nest too

Just to double check Saturdays cleaning we (we being Simon lol) sifted through the pine shavings this morning.... nada, we will have to keep our eyes open though!

Wait until tonight... there will be no repeat!

All joking aside...the Carla Mitchell method (CMM) works really good.
Once in a while if a gander get too aggressive with me post CMM,
I simply stomp toward them and they usually squeal and run away like little girls.
Most of them are really big wusses, at least when it comes to my Sebastopols.

That's what I did yesterday... and as noted by the blood blister... she/he did not back down... eek!

Like stubborn/strong willed children some need more discipline.
I wouldn't give up yet.
I would do the CMM daily for a few days in a row even
if the goose doesn't show aggression just for good measure and see what happens.
Good luck!

Mine do this. I have started using a stick or narrow board and putting it under the bedding and gently lifting it up. If there is an egg in the nest, it will usually be at the bottom so with the bedding lifted off it can be seen and retreived. The bedding is then just put back in place and the nest not so disturbed. Plus it is so much easier than me trying to reach into that big dog house with my short arms.

Much faster also. Also check any pile of bedding anywhere. There was some bedding in front of the dog house the other day. I casually scooted it aside ( thankfully) before I stepped on it, and there was an egg, totally covered with just a bit of hay.

Another thing is to put your arms up or out to the side, possibly wave them. It makes you look bigger (and to fellow humans, ridiculous, but that's ok- they don't give you blood blisters).
