Insane bird mite infestation!!! Need help please!

WOW!
The washer and dryer (hot) should kill any mites present, and insecticide and thorough cleaning in the room will be necessary, probably repeated weekly for three weeks.
And no birds in the bedroom, or better yet, in the house!
Mites and lice can be seen at night, with a flashlight, looking at the birds while they are roosting. Around their vents, necks, under wings. The mites are very tiny but moving specks, lice are larger.
Permethrin spray kills them, or permethrin dust if it's cold were you live. Indoors, any insecticide. Yuck!

Thank you. I have a Rooster in the office attached to my bedroom and as of yesterday, a Silkie that had a 5 inch gash in her neck/chest due to a bad rooster mounting her and tearing her skin. And since I do animal rescue, I have about 5 cats that live in my master bedroom. The cats don't seem to be affected and maybe that is due to flea meds. I must have 100s of bites all over my body.....only happens in my bed, not in other parts of the house. I threw most of my bedding in the wash and just put some almond oil with some essential bug off oil on most of my body...am hoping it wards off the bites tonight....I don't know what else to do....am wondering if I need to throw away my 3 year old mattress.

Chicken mites aren't as likely to go after mammals but yes the flea meds actually should help, so the cats should be fine.

Try spraying rubbing alcohol on the mattress.

I have more info/questions on the other thread you posted on.

Talk to your doctor about Ivermectin. It's prescribed for all kind of parasites, including lice, scabies, etc., and if you can take it, then the lice will only bite you one more time before they die.

It is one of those foam mattresses...am afraid that the moisture of the rubbing alcohol would not dry and would leave the mattress moist. Someone told me to use a hot clothing iron on the mattress too...but I think that would melt it....LOL.

Probably can do a little test spot before committing to spraying the mattress. I wasn't sure about how well it would dry but rubbing alcohol dries fast, so as long as you just surface spray and then let it air out, it should dry without issue.

Help...I believe I have a mite infestation in my house and in my bed. I keep a kennel in my bedroom and have brought injured chickens to spend time in the kennel. Recently I had a young hen pass away and I am guessing that is where the mites came. I am constantly cleaning my bedding, but now can't even get a full night's sleep...I have bites all over my body from head to toe. I don't know what to do...am ready to burn my bed. I can not see the mites....I look and look and can not see them. Help.
