Installed a automatic chicken door

just finished my drapery (ebay) motor auto door, works great, everything else came from homedepot, the 1/2 inch channel, the digital timer, the eye hook to off set the counter weight, a small peice of 3/8 plywood(2 foot by 4 foot, cut down to 18 inch X 4 foot), 3/8 counter sink screws, 1/16 green coated steel cable, for the counter weight I drilled a set of holes in a 5/8 inch rod coupling and put a 5/8 X 6 bolt in the bottom, tied the cable thought the drilled holes, oh for the door I went with the poly cutting board idea, again I drilled holes right threw the handle for the cable, I'm in the $140 to $150 range, thanks for all the good ideas!

PS I think the cable was 1/16, it was the thinnest coated cable they had.

later,
putty

I know you'll be happy with your automatic door, I can do without mine now. I went up to the farm yesterday to help my son to sting 700 feet of barbwire on the east fence, didn't get back to town until after dark but the chickens were in and the door was closed.
