Insurance and Car Accidents

I took the check, fix it ourselves and went on a little vacation.

Don't worry, your premiums will go up.

Unless you have major pull with State Farm and intend to call and demand they raise my premiums, I don't see how. As I said, it was two years ago. Since that time, we have traded vehicles and are actually paying LESS now than we did.

Yes, EweSheep, I considered myself VERY lucky. I was dreading getting dropped or the premiums going WAY up.

State Farm has accident forgiveness if you're a good driver. We've been with them for 13 years.

We wrecked our pick-up when we were first married, about 12 years ago, and the pick-up had $5000 worth of damage. I was off work and paid wages through State Farm for 60 days, they paid all the medical bills as well. No rate increase.

I hit a car pulling into a parking space at work about 7 years ago. It was my fault, the car I hit was 3 weeks old, I did $1850 damage, and it did nothing to the bumper on my pick-up. We were told it was our "freebie" because of our good record.

We've also had 3 deer hits over the past 5 years, and have not had a rate increase.

We insure 3 vehicles, our life insurance, disability, and our homeowner's through State Farm and there isn't a company out there who will insure us cheaper. Trust me, I've looked.

State Farm is an excellent company to us, but I do seem to hear a lot of horror stories about them. Maybe it all has to do with your agent?

Talk about frugal....yep, see that alot on cars brakes in this town too!

I hated that car with a passion. I used the money to trade it in. Best decision I ever made.
