integrating new chickens into existing flock

I've always gotten good advice here, so I'll start here as opposed to just Googleing. I have an existing flock of 11 hens that are 2 1/2 years old. In a seperate but attached coop and run I have 5 pullets that are 16 weeks old. Are the pullets old enough to add to the existing flock? They hear each other since the coops are seperate but attached plus they see each other almost daily when they're out in their seperate runs. Should it be gradual or do I just open the door between the coops and runs and let them work it out? For additional info I live in north central Illinois and weather is a concern. I'd like them all together for when it's real cold. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I solved the problem for tonight anyway. If Penny can't see Mildred and Tooter she's ok with them being on the perch. 😂
It's dark and before I put the drying mat between them she was pecking the heck out of Tooter the RIR chick. Peaceful for tonight.
