Interesting feathers

My rouen duck has one brown feather in place where one of her iridescent blue ones should be. Anyone know what causes this or what it's called? I've never seen it before and Id love to know

I've never seen that before either. I'd guess just a fluke, but I'd love to see what happens after a molt.

I remember some (2 or 3, I believe?) of my 2024 Trout Runner ducklings showing a brown feather on their wing speculum... like yours...
...But I then didn't think it was weird or rare?

In case it could explain it : my Trout ducklings had two differently coloured parents - a Trout father, and a Light Dusky mother.
