If they start charging parents for the kids to be able to ride the bus, they will surely come up with some sort of welfare help for that as well.. So those that pay the 350. per child will more than likely be paying for the ones that cant through taxing..

Our school only has a 3 day weekend as a fall break and a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving. I don't think they are starting up this fall until the Monday before labor day. Since we are rural, class size is nothing, the graduating class for '09 was 25 kids for the entire county. I think it's down this year to 22 kids....

Ga. is having some serious budget cuts as well. Children are our future. I just dont understand how they can even consider cutting out millions to education. Why dont they cut out parks or something.

In Jacksonville, Florida - - - This year we saw a SHORTER School day implemented. As teachers, we were asked to teach more Rigor while seeing the students less : (
The bus routes were changed so that more students had to walk to school.
We won't even talk about the cut in supplies for the classroom.


NEXT YEAR - - - The school board is already warning and stressing over the expected cuts in budgets.

As a teacher, I will do what I need to do to make it happen for my students.
As a parent, I think a shorter day is not the way to improve education.

I am just finishing my teaching degree and they are cutting over 400 positions in my district. Plus they are telling my son that PE is SO important that he can't graduate this year unless he makes up the years he refused to dress out, yet they are cutting PE, ART and Music for fall. Sounds stupid to me. I am glad I only have one more child in school and she will be done in 2012.
