One day, I was just randomly cracking acorns, and then I found one with disgusting white worms crawling inside! I freaked out, but then my sister came, picked up the acorn, and fed the worms to the 5 week old chicks we have. They loved it! Later, I did some research and found out they were called acorn weevils, and the best time to find infested acorns is when the acorns start falling to the ground in the late summer/fall, or after the squirrels collect all the good acorns and leave the bad, wormy ones. Acorns with weevils have a hole on the side of them, too. Well, I just wanted to post this interesting discovery, and me and my sister love cracking acorns with rocks to find any weevils inside!

That is interesting! Down here in Florida, we have "live Oak" trees, and they have little acorns on them. I'm wondering if these get those weevils too?
